ILR timeline (panic!)
« on: June 24, 2022, 04:59:40 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm in the process of submitting my ILR application and will be back soon with some questions specific to that application.  In the meantime, I've begun to panic on my timings.  Has anyone applied recently and had success getting a super priority slot (or whatever it's called) within, say, a few weeks of submitting your application?  The issue I'm concerned about is that we have travel booked 20th July, and again 15th August. I had originally expected to get a super priority slot and docs turned around in a short timeframe, and I'm now starting to realize this looks unlikely.  :(  FWIW, my BRP expires 23 August, 2022, which is before we are due to return from our August travels.

Thanks so much for input on timings.  I really appreciate it!

Recently people have been managing to get appointments by looking at 1am. I don't think they are too far ahead.

Have you passed your life in the UK test?

That is great, thank you for replying so quickly.  Yes, LIUK test passed (hooray!) and now just sorting through our correspondence.  Will get a list posted shortly that perhaps kind folks here can review.  (I can't believe this process is still so stressful after five years!)
thank you again

Would anyone kindly be able to check my documents for an ILR application that I'll submit as soon as I have my most recent bank statement:

Applicant/partner documents
Passport - do I upload a copy or send in (physically) original?
Marriage certificate
Divorce certificate (partner)
Life in the UK reference number

Other
Recent mortgage statement
Recent council tax
Spouse declaration
children’s UK passports
Children birth certificates - both UK born, so not included on app

Finance (Cash savings)
December 2021 - May 2022 bank statements
Signed letter from bank confirming authenticity (waiting on this and won't submit until we have)

Cohabitation/Relationship (all in joint names)
May 2022 - bank
December 2021 - gas bill
July 2021 - gas bill
January 2021 - bank
August 2020 - council tax
March 2020 - bank

Missing:
We do not have any recent correspondence (<3 mos) for either of our children, and our GP won’t do it.  Does anyone think a Covid fit to fly test, showing their names and addresses, would work?  It was issued from a company called Breathe Assured and shows current address and name for each.

Anything else?

Thank you, as always, to the kind people on this forum for helping with this.

You upload your passport too.

Make sure you are covering a full 6 months with your bank statements, and make sure the most recent one is dated within 28 days of the online application.
You don't need a letter of authentication if your statements are original and come through the post.

You should provide the land registry document. The £3 online version is acceptable.

I think those letters will be fine for your children.

Evening all,

Just a couple last questions before we submit:

1) There was a question about whether I have other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK.  I wrote something about having children here, being part of the local schools and community, and wanting to raise our family here.  I can no longer find my way back to that section for some reason, but my question is that on one of the final pages of the application where it displays a checklist of items to send, it says I must provide 'documents supporting all of my other reasons for wanting to stay'.  I'm assuming that this will be covered in the list that this forum has already kindly reviewed.  Do I need to submit anything else?

2) We are relying on cash savings to meet the income requirement, but we do not know when the account was opened.  Should we just guess?  Is there any implication to being wrong about this?

Thank you
Kristin

1- That's fine, you don't need anything else.

2- For the question how long has the account been held? I'd just put  "more than X years". Pick a number for X that you're sure of and you can't be wrong. But as long as you have held the money for more than 6 months, you have met the requirement.

Honestly, the only time they read question #1 is if your application was refused and they are looking at your rights under Article 8.  And as your children are British, you'd be granted the 10 year path.  That WILL NOT happen as you meet the requirements, but on 99 out of 100 applications, they don't even read the answer.

Or you could call the bank and ask them.  :)

Heh, yes, though given my stress levels over appointment availability I just wanted to get it submitted.  We used a reasonable date when we knew the account had been open.

I ended up getting a priority slot by staying up until 1a, thanks to the advice on this forum.  Bang on 1a super priority was available.  My appointment is 7th July at a premium lounge in London because it was the first appointment I could get (and what's another £200 on top of another £800 on top of £2400!).  There was a lot of availability on both the 7th and 8th for the premium lounge.

To anyone who has used the premium lounge, did you let them upload your documents at the appointment?  Document uploading is included in the cost of the appointment, but it seems strange to be <this> close to the finish line and then wait...until the very last possible minute to let someone else upload things for me and hope they don't make a mistake. I have the option to upload things on my own ahead of the appointment if I want to (and I think I'd feel better knowing I've done things correctly).  Any words of wisdom?

I'll report back after my appointment. Thank you again for everyone who has taken the time to read this and reply!

I let them upload all of my documents with the exception of the spouse declaration. I did that on my own. It's so much easier to have them do it and it's included in the price you paid for your appointment. They only scanned pictures of my passports with stamps in them as well.

It wasn't the same when we applied, priority appointments were still on paper and I took a set of copies for them. If I were doing it now,  I would upload everything beforehand and bring it all with me to the appointment. Belt and braces!

Yes, I keep imagining myself arriving to the premium lounge having forgot to bring everything that needs scanning! Horrifying!

I realized today that I forgot to list one of my two week trips out of the UK.  It was an honest oversight and it seems the best way to address this is to write a cover letter acknowledging the error and listing the trip and dates (rather than withdrawing the application).  Would you agree?  (thanks also to @anxiousandwaiting for replying!).

Yes, that's all you need to do.

Hi all - we’re celebrating today…my ILR application was approved! I owe a sincere debt of gratitude to the many people on this forum who have replied and and answered my questions over the years. Thank you.

I paid for super priority processing and had an appointment at the premium lounge in London. My approval came about three hours after my appointment finished. FWIW to others, i found the premium lounge to be comfortable, friendly, and efficient. I had them scan most of my documents which took far less time than I would have spent at home.

Next stop: citizenship! Thank you again for the help along the way!
