Help Please!!! - FLR Renewal
« on: November 10, 2023, 12:25:25 AM »
Dear All,

I hope you’re all well.  I posted this question before, I didn’t get an answer.  I hope that someone can help me please as I am quite an anxious person.

My Spousal visa will expire on the 20th of January 2024.  I believe I can apply for the renewal from the 23rd of December until before 20th of January is this correct ?  Due to Christmas holidays, it’s most likely I would probably be able to gather all the paperwork I need by first week of January and apply by then, would this be ok?

2nd Question, is there anyone who knows the requirements as far as list of documents needed for the renewal.  I’ve done my FLR myself and was wondering if it would be the same paperwork ?

Really appreciate your help.

I've had a quick look at your previous posts. For clarity, you are not on a spouse visa, you switched from a work visa to FLR(M) and you will be applying for another FLR(M)

The information from your previous thread still applies.  :)

As soon as you're done with your FLR, get studying for your life in the UK test which you will need for ILR. It's better to get it done sooner rather than later to avoid last minute panics.

Yes, applying the first week in January will be fine.

Guys,

As some of you may know I am applying to renew or extend my Spouse Visa.

First Question is :

Is this the first time you have applied for a partner route, or an extension with your current partner?

Yes or No

My answer was yes cos it’s the first time I am extending my spouse visa, or should I say No, as this is the extension of my visa after 2.5 years?

Sorry I am confused.

There is a question about Reason for extension?

I am confused as to what I should choose.

The choices are

1. First Extension as a partner
2. Additional Extension as a partner

Those are the only 2 options relating to me really

Your answer is NO.

This is your second time applying for a partner route visa.  The first time was your first FLR(M) visa and now this one is your second FLR(M) visa.

I think technically, your first application was also considered to be an extension visa, because even though you were switching from a work visa, FLR(M) is by definition an extension visa, because you have to already be living in the UK on a valid visa in order to qualify to apply for it... so when you apply for FLR(M) you are applying to extend your stay in the UK.

I would probably go with option 2, as this is your second FLR(M) extension visa application.

Hello Everyone,

I am just applying for the extension of my family leave to remain visa.

One of the the documents listed is it’s asking for a letter from a family or a friend confirming I or my partner lived with them for some or all of the 2 year period.

I don’t understand why we have to have a letter.  My husband and I lived in the same house we are renting.  We have a letter from our landlord confirming this and we also have a copy of our tenancy agreement.

We never lived with a friend or a family in the last 2 years.

Do I need to also provide this?  Don’t know how as we didn’t live with a friend or family in the past 2 years.  And in my application I’ve stated that our current address we’ve lived in since March 2019

No, you do not need a letter.

If you didn't live with family or friends in the last 2 years, then the requirement to provide a letter does not apply to you.

Thanks Ksand,

At the end of the application it’s asking me to tick all the documents I will provide.  That letter from a relative is one of the items I need to tick to save and continue the application.  Do I tick it anyway ?  But don’t provide it as we didnt live with anyone else in the past 2 years?

Thank you

Did you answer all the questions correctly? Because it should not ask you to provide a letter unless you ticked a box/answered a question to say that you have lived with family or friends,

For example, what did you select when it asked if you rent or own your home? If you selected ‘neither rent nor own’, then you are saying you are staying in someone else’s home (family or friend) which they are also living in too.

Thank you Ksand.  I just double check my answers.  You’re right I checked a box where it says I will provide letter from family by mistake.

Thank you very much Larrabee.

Another most likely a very silly question but I am overthinking things.

My current resident permit is valid until 20th of January.

So technically I can submit the application now right ?

Just making sure I am not too early  ;D

I would wait a couple of days until you're safely within the 28 days.
