We have started sending cards but taking the birthday and Christmas gifts with us when we go home for our yearly visit. Family will save our gifts to give us while we are there, or put money into our U.S. bank account so we can buy what we want over here. It saves postage on both sides.

Do you take a lot of pics so people back home can see the area where you live?

I do!  BUT, even more is I walk around and take pictures of funny things like foods (Big Saucy Bangers anyone?), road signs, or pubs that make me giggle.

I think a lot about things I miss, but what have you found here that would will/would miss if you were back in the states?

-My gym (Nuffields on Plains Road in Nottingham!)
-Having a local butcher
-Veg stands (Mapperly in particular)
-1 day delivery from Amazon even without Prime membership
-the all around more casual nature to life there
-my fiance!!!!! but I'm headed over in 11 days  :)

Aww this is SO hard since I love so many! I think my CURRENT favorite song would be a tie between Rhythm of Love by the Plain White Tees and Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons

What/who is your favorite band/musician and why? ;)

Martin Hayes was one of the first Irish trad musicians I heard about 15 years ago.  His style is relaxed and expressive, he has a great respect for and plays many of the old tunes.  Also, as a person he is peaceful and philosophical.  I've seen him in concert twice and took a fiddle workshop taught by him as well.

Do you and your spouse / SO have the same taste in music?

Yes and no. We are both into metal and punk, but he is only into metal and punk. I like a bit of nearly everything, including showtunes, jazz, blues, Motown, some easy listening (mostly 70's and 80's) and a few other types. I really am not into rap, the 'new' stuff on the radio these days (Lady Gaga etc) and there are very few country songs I really like.

Are you comfortable striking up a conversation with a stranger, or are you a bit shy?

Since I've worked in retail and food service most of my life I've been having conversations with strangers for decades, so yeah I'm comfy with it.

On a long flight, do you prefer a window seat or an aisle seat?

Window because I can prop my pillow against the wall and sleep if I'd like, plus it saves losing my elbow several times per flight when the food and beverage carts come through. I don't look out during take off and landing, but I enjoy looking out while up in the air.

If you could live anywhere other than the US or UK, where would you choose, and what would be the main reason?

I would move to Paris in a heartbeat. Mainly because I'm in love/obssessed with that city! I think I could excell in my career there, learn a foreign langauge, be a train ride away from other beautiful/cities/towns/villages, discover new and vintage places to see/do etc... Oh how I could go on!

Do you like to take a lot of pictures?

I have always enjoyed taking pictures, but now that my phone seems to double as the best camera I have ever had, it is always with me, and small enough to fit in my pocket, I seem to have lost my little mind. I snap pics of anything and everything.  ;D

Do you chew your gum until the biggest part of the flavour is gone (usually 2 to 5 minutes), or do you chew it until ALL the flavour is gone?

I used to keep chewing it...realizing an hour later it was nasty. Then I started chewing Extra Polar Ice. Flavor stays forever.

What was your favorite Halloween costume you ever wore?

I'd have to say that through all the years of being a ballerina, hobo, clown and whatever else I was as a kid, the year I went as Gene Simmons was my fave. I nailed the makeup perfectly that year (other tries after that were crap, so it had to be beginner's luck), and was so proud.

Do you buy candy to eat pretending it is for the kiddies even if you know you won't get any trick or treaters?

I haven't yet.  Maybe next year...

Any Bonfire Night plans?
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...
