Missing Breakfast Out....
« on: August 28, 2005, 07:16:57 PM »
Anyone else miss GOING OUT for breakfast?  Who misses big belgian waffles (that you don't have to make yourself, that is)?  Or IHOP (or, better yet, Cracker Barrel or Perkin's.....even Denny's...no, not Denny's, LOL) pancakes with warm maple syrup and butter?   Or, blueberry pancakes (Jamie tried those from Cracker Barrel and ooohhhed and ahhhed over them....he thinks Cracker Barrel would do well over here.  I don't know about that...but, it would be nice).

I miss going out for breakfast..sometimes.  Not a big deal, mind you.  But, sometimes I just get a craving, you know?

Anyone else?  Or am I the only one (just like I appear to be the only one on the board who is crazy for Fantasy books)?

I'm with you! I LOVE eating breakfast out and am really upset that sweet breakfasts aren't as popular here. Steve thinks I'm crazy for liking my pancakes, waffles and sweet things for breki - but he puts a ton of sugar on his wheetabix, I don't get it ::)

I dont miss those things, because i can (and do) make them all myself.
We just had huge stacks of pancakes with butter & maple syrup this morning!

And, yeah... i do hate fantasy books.  :-\\\\

There are plenty of places to go for a fry up around here.  Mmmm.

I never cared for Belgian waffles or pancakes b/c they never filled me up for long.

I go for the stodgy stuff.

I always keep Bisquick to hand to make it myself if the urge strikes.

We had blueberry pancakes today - homemade - yum!

But I do know what you mean. There are lots of times when I don't want to be the cook. I want a big ol' American menu with lots of choices - from huevos rancheros to chocolate chip pancakes to eggs benedict. I like a fry-up as much as the next person but not everytime I want a 'special' breakfast. And I miss the feel of going out for breakfast, too.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Oh, they don't fill me up for long either.  I just like them...now and then.

Exactly.

My favourite brunch place in the US had a deal -- on the first Sunday of the month, if you showed up in your jim-jams, you got a free mimosa or bloody mary! Needless to say, I had many!

Oh Man.  We used to live in Worcester MA, which is like the diner capital of the US.  I really miss going out on a Sunday morning for an omelette.  I used to really enjoy that.  It's something I always do first thing when I go to visit my parents.

I'm not into the whole fry-up thing.  Don't like eggs or beans really.  Or sausages.  Or fried tomatoes come to think of it.   :P

Some of my best memories in the US are at breakfast-y places - either when I got up to meet friends for a proper one, or when I'd been out all night and we ate before going to home and to bed!!!

 ;)

I think I have an idea for tomorrow morning - a proper fry up. I think I'll have to suggest this to my honey :) I enjoy a good fry up along w/ the diner menu.

The pub chain JD Wetherspoon's does breakfast diner style.  They have a huge non-smoking section and are family friendly as well.  Tesco's - those that have a cafe - also do breakfast.

We have a hotel in my town that does breakfasts... fry-ups, filled rolls, omelettes... not sure what else.
But i've never been.
