Sponsors UK-USA
« on: September 26, 2005, 09:01:56 PM »
on the USA website......it states:

Note: Grandparents, aunts, uncles, in-laws and cousins cannot sponsor a relative for immigration

So then who do we get to sponsor my hubby if we don't make enuf for the amount level for our family?
My mother said she would sponsor him..but that is out of the question now..............

I don't understand this.  I thought it would be all right if my dad sponsered us when (if) we re- locate back to the USA.   We are a family of 5 and will not be able to meet the federal guidlines otherwise.

MeShell- do you and your husband own property on IOM?? That's one way to show financial support without having to have a sponsor??

Well we are currently buying a house? We don't own it out right. we have a mortgage. We intend on selling it and with the house market around us when we sell it and pay everything off we have calculated we would be going over to the states with over £100,000.00

I make as well £15,000.00 a year here......would they count that as suffecent for the support amount? But I am making that here I have no idea what I am going to do when I get there...

We will probably live with my mother for a bit. Her house is paid for and she is signing it over to me once we move over.

Thanks for the help
Shell

MeShell- we had about that much equity when we sold and that was more than enough for me to prove financial support (it only has to be about $15,000 based on 2). Sounds like you are good to go!!

Actually...

The USC will be the sponsor, always. The USC can then have a co-sponsor to beef up any needed financial information.

USC has to fill out the Affidavit of Support. Then, if you're going to be living with your co-sponsor, such as parents, you can get them to fillout an I-864A, which is an agreement between household members. Otherwise, your co-sponsor has to do a full I-864.

The acutal I-864 form and info: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-864.htm [nofollow]

The household member agreement form: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-864a.htm [nofollow]

The poverty guidelines: http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-864P.htm [nofollow]

The guidelines are needed to establish how much support you have to show to bring your UK spouse to the US. It can also tell you how much your co-sponsor will need to be able to show depending on the household size you live in.

Hope that helps. :)

Melissa
