I used treacle for molasses in a recipe here.  It tastes exactly the same - the dark (or is it called black?) treacle.

Has anyone managed to find Provolone cheese in the UK?? I really miss the stuff, and as every store I ask I just get dumb looks. I have tried Morrisons, Co-Op, Somerfield, Safeway, and even the Spar. We dont have an ASDA, Tescos or Sainsburys anywhere near me so maybe someone could enlighten me?

i've looked for it for years and never found it... i've even searched in specialist cheese shops, and Italian delis.  :(

Sainsbury's carried it last year but then stopped.  There is a deli in London that sells it and according to the man to takes care of our lawn, there's a cheese stall at our local market that carries it too.

It's terribly hard to locate.  :(

Thanks very much for all the info! I'll have to start saving my pennies, the delivery charge on the deli site is £6.99!  :o

Either that or if you can find an Italian import speciality food shop/deli in your area...  We have one in the next town over that I'm reasonably sure would carry the provolone, but I've just not made it over yet.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
