What's on your Thanksgiving Menu? (be sure to include all your faves & desserts)

It looks like we'll be here again for the holidays this year and this is what is on our Menu!  :D (Hoping to have more than just Chris's Mum come down- it's a bit nervewracking!)

Turkey
My Mom's Bread Stuffing with onions  & Bell's Seasoning (Mom sent some over in a carepackage!)
Carrots
Sweet Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
Homemade Cranberry sauce
Corn
Pumpkin Pie (I have been meaning to ask for the pumpkin pack recipe I saw on here recently! Anyone know who had that?  ;D)
Cornbread
Black Olives (Just a touch that we always have at Mom's)
Gravy made from the turkey drippings!

Hmmm have I missed anything? Good grief...I'm drooling now hehe

(Who is actually sitting here while her hubby gets ready to serve a nice roast lamb dinner! yum!)

Most likely a frozen dinner. My kids will be with their dad for Thanksgiving this year and since I have to work the next day I can't go out of town to spend it with family so I guess I'll be sitting in front of the TV eating something cooked in the microwave. :-/

Maybe I'll drown my sorrows in an entire pumpkin pie. ;D Only joking...well sorta. ;)

Me and my wife are going back to the states for two weeks during thanksgiving...which means we'll be staying over my parents house.

I was over here last thanksgiving so i had a small make shift dinner with my brit inlaws.
This year I'll be eating my moms homemade thanksgiving dinner.  ;D

Thinking from the years past, we'll be having:

homemade stuffing
gravy from the turkey juices
ham
sweet potatatoes  :-X don't like them
potatoe salad
corn
mashed potatoes
cranberry sauce  (eaten as part of a meal....not a condiment)

then when everyone wakes up after falling asleep on the couch and can move again....we'll have my moms classic homemade apple pie...and homemade pumpkin pie  ;D  with COOL WHIP!
I'll probably make some custard as well so my family can taste custard over proper apple pie.

I can't wait!

Oooh one of my families favorite subjects! lol  We shall be having:

Turkey
Stovetop stuffing or homemade (depends on the sis in law)
Potatoes
Peas  :'(
gravy
hot rolls

Then the pies:  homemade chocolate cream pie, pumpkin pie, broken glass pie and of course apple.

Do any of you make sandwiches of the turkey instead of eating it off your plate.  My sister in law hates that.  But we've grown up doing that.  Using Miracle Whip of course.

We always have:

Turkey (a big one-so we get loads of leftovers :))
Mashed Potatos
My Mom's Stuffing(made with sausage, celery and sage, thyme and rosemary and painstakingly cut up and toasted bread ;))
Cream style corn
Squash
Sweet Potatos(with Marshmallows)
Cream Corn
Rolls
Datenut Bread
Olives and pickles (which the in-laws find unusual)
Cranberry sauce (homemade AND Ocean Spray)

Pumpkin Pie
Cherry Pie
and
Ice Cream.

No wonder I'm always exhausted afterwards.  ::)

Last year we didn't do much, since dd was so little and money was a bit tight (not that it isn't now!), but this year I think we'll do the full deal and have:

Turkey
Stovetop stuffing (I'm not a big stuffing fan, so that's all I do)
Mashed potatoes
corn
rolls
Bisto gravy
sweet potatoes with marshmallows
cranberry sauce (canned, I don't like cranberries either and hubby likes the canned)

and we, too, have the little tray of black olives, with pickles, and celery with peanut butter in it (I don't like celery, either, but hubby does).

And of course, pumpkin pie and Cool Whip!

We always have a bit of olives as well....wonder when that became part of Thanksgiving!

Anyways, here's what we have:

The day always starts with homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast and Chex mix to munch on during the day.

Then for dinner:

Turkey (last year we had two:  a smoked one and a traditional roasted one)
Homemade stuffing (a base of Pepperidge farm stuffing, with apples, raisins, onion and turkey...stuffed in the bird even tho it's supposedly unsafe)   ;D
Mashed potatoes
Dripping gravey
Homemade rolls
Sweet potatoes with marshmellows (of course!)
Green bean cassarole
Grandma's Strawberry and cranberry jello salad with whipped cream (served *with* the meal, not as a dessert)
Olives
Pies - Pecan, apple and pumpkin

Mmmmm...mmm!  I can't wait.   ;D

This is not a one-upmanship...I just wanted to give you huge hugs because I know exactly how this feels. I came to Florida one Thanksgiving to see my son...and his dad wouldn't let me have him on the day. I was in the hotel room not feeling like I wanted to go out to a restaurant because they'd all look at me sitting alone. So I got into the "stash" I'd just bought to bring back with me to the UK and ate a box of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish. I like the idea of the pumpkin pie much better. I'm so sorry your kids won't be with you.

Aww...thank you LisaE. :) Spending holidays alone without the kids sucks doesn't it? :-/

But the good news is I finally have my kids on Christmas. It will be the first Christmas in 2 years I've had them. :D *fingers crossed that the ex-jerk doesn't screw this one up* Thanksgiving should hopefully be a breeze compared to spending the past 2 Christmases alone staring at the walls.

Yep my family used to do a fried turkey every year. In fact my brother did one last year and it was yum. :P The first time my mom was going to fry one I was skeptical but I loved it. I think they're juicier and have a lot more flavor and they're not at all greasy like you'd think they'd be.
