All-Inclusive
« on: October 30, 2005, 10:45:33 PM »
Hi all
Rich and I are looking to go on an all-inclusive holiday.  I've been looking at some on lastminute.com.  Has anyone ever done anything like this through this company or one similar?  Just hoping they are not crappy places.  The prices seem reasonable for four star resorts.  We are looking at Spain at the end of November right now.

We have done all inclusive twice and our holiday was fantastic. But we knew where we were staying. Both places were big resorts with with lots of restaraunts and bars. Both had beaches with water sports etc. I dont like surprises on holiday. I think with LM.com you are assigned your holiday package when you land. My time away from the office is precious, and if I were to arrive and not like where I was staying, or if the food was average with no choice, I would be upset. That being said, if the price is acceptable and you are adventerous it could be a fantastic trip. Hopefully someone else has used LM.com for an all inclusive 4* holiday and could provide better insight.  Good luck!

i've done them a few times.  be sure you go where there are multiple restraunts you can dine at-i hated one where there were only 2 options.  boring!!!!!

some that i've looked at recently have like 4 or 5 and then you get points to use at ala carte places in the resort.

i've never been blown away with all inclusive BUT they are a great deal.  You can't get around that!!!!!!  And a lot of the activites and stuff make them worth it if you are looking to stay on the resort

dh and i are more explorers in the areas we stay-so being in a resort for breakfast, lunch and dinner just doesn't work for us.

Thanks for the tips.  Thing is Rich and I don't want to have to think about planning for this trip.  We just want to get there and be taken care of.  Rich needs some R&R right now, he has been working hard and will have to work even harder this month and next.

I'll do some more research into the resorts on LM.  they give names of the places, so maybe they have info on-line as well.

Did I hear my named called?

All-inclusive are good value...I have been booking them left and right at the moment...

With the likes of Thompsons and Thomas Cooke if it is a late deal make sure you get at least a 4T or 4star rating, as long as you like the price.

I did one recently for someone going to Crete...quoted a name accomodation...was over £1000.00 for 2 weeks...
quoted a late deal and with flights from the IOM to connect got it under £1000.00 and when they got there they ended up staying at the same resort I quoted for...

If they run out of rooms they have to allocate you the same rating or BETTER than you have booked they can not make you go down a rating!

If you find a named hotel look it up on TripAdvisor...I always read what other ppl have said about the hotels on there great tool when booking hotels!!!

Not knowing when where or what I had a look at the end of Nov.

I found a great deal going to Costa Del Sol leaving from LGW on the 20th 7 nights Half board 4T twin room £448.00 for both. If you like getting out and about HB might be a good option for you?

If you want PM details I will have a look for you!

I know ppl have a funny view of it at the moment. But the FO hasn't issued any warnings or is telling us NOT to book
it...
But Sharm El Sheik has some nice All Inclusive prices!?

Right, so now Rich says he wants to splash out a bit and do a Sandals Holiday.  (We never had a real Honeymoon)  He has been looking at the Virgin Holidays website.

If it is branded Sandals...it is couples only...
Beaches are for families.....
They only allow male/female couples.....and single ppl aren't allowed.........I did have some friends male/female go together even tho they weren't a couple.........they went to one in the Turk and Cacaos...said other than the resort there wasn't much there to do out side of the resort........

I would LOVEEEE to go the the Royal Bahamian Spa and offshore Island Sandals.........I'm jealous...

We did the one in Antigua like I said before..we were on a cruise and travel agents can apply for day passes and I got DH and myself one...ppl were drinking margaritas and daiquiris at 10 in the morning...just walk up to the drinks hut and ask for what you like...and we were given breakfast and lunch...
the breakfast was out of this world it was a shame we had already eaten on board the ship........

It looked like a fun place to stay in the nights...they had different themed nights...like Pirates and Wenches....

Ahh, OK.  I always wanted to go on a singles holiday, what were those called?

OK, I'll tell Rich to concentrate on Antigua then.  Is there only one there?

I would LOVEEEE to go the the Royal Bahamian Spa and offshore Island Sandals.........I'm jealous...

Does Virgin do this one?  Do they fly there?  We want a direct flight as well.

Ok..lets see..I've pulled out my office copy of Sandals...

You have Several in Jamaica

3 in St. Lucia
1 in Antigua
1 in the Bahamas

it looks like Virgin flies direct into Antigua from Gatwick and all the other ones as well....

There is a virgin brochure strictly for Sandals....
