HI kitkat, I am a SE londoner. I am headed to Swindon at the end of the month for a training whoo hoo! I am from CA and I agree practice is different here. But just like home, every day is different and brings it's own challenges!

Anyone know of any good UK social work boards/forums?  Even non UK would be ok.....

Has everyone come here on a time commitment?  I am here for two years.  Two years is enough for me, I think - but mostly because I am a big baby and miss my family (oh, what a dork I am).  I am often driving around England for my [caseload] kids.  I am happy to have a network of people so that when I am out and about I can pop in and say a hello in passing.  (wink)

I am here with my husband and my cat.  I sound like I am in a support group or something.  Hi, my name is Kris.  I have been in England for 7 months.  I have been to Kent, Edinburgh, Wales, Devon, and Wrexam - and 12 castles in-between.  (Feel sorry for me, my hubby is a medieval hx buff - insert me slapping my forhead).

I am glad to hear the no regrets comment...makes life worth it, doesn't it?

Joshua, what works for you? My group (about nine of us) would probably all like to participate.  How's Saturday, 8 April for everyone?

Paula, what a great social worker you are! You certainly know how to schedule your diary promptly!!

Can we call it "supervision"?  ;)

Only if supervision can be held at a pub and involve massive quantities of alcohol...it's been a b**ch of a week!

Don, I don't think we have enough time to organize anything outside of London but let's try to plan something more central later this spring. I'm up for a train ride.

As for the 8th...night time or day time....alcohol or family time? What does everyone want?

you mean your supervision at work doesn't involve alcohol?  ;)

I can't wait to hear how your first weeks are going Paula. It seems everyone is in crisis these days!

any time or place is cool. perhaps south of the border this time since you have a group with you? I'd like to check out Wimbledon area.

What do you others think?

I just found out that the Putney boat races are next weekend. Supposedly a fun time. How's that for everyone? Putney is just south of the river on the District line so it's not hard to get to. Let me know....
