I absolutely cannot stand the words "belly," "tummy," "belly button," and "navel."  I'm just sure why, the words themselves just give me an icky feeling.  Whenever I refer to that part of my (or someone else's ) anatomy, I usually say "stomach."

You guys are so funny!  I guess you wouldn't want to play with a piercing on your belly button then!?!?!?! (yes, I play with mine, and dont even know Im doing it, kinda like twirling my hair!!!)

I cant stand the word "panties"!!!  I have no clue why but it drives me bananas hearing it!!! :P

Oh I used to hate the way one supervisor (at my last job in the US) pronounced 'monthly' as 'muntly' -- no 'th' sound.

Me TOOOOO!!!  Thank goodness I am not the only one who thinks this!  Here they are in most hated to least:
tummy
belly
belly button
navel

At least navel is somewhat medical and not just some stupid made up word!!  I always say STOMACH.

yes!! Geeta, we are so alike, hehe :)

See, I just don't get that.  To me, belly, tummy, etc., refer to the 'outside' of someone's abdomen....'stomach' is an internal organ!  Seems much more icky somehow!
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

i would have to agree with incurable - stomach brings to mind intestines, which brings to mind .... never mind

exactly!   I could never call my 'belly' or 'abdomen' (if im talking to a doctor!  ;) ) a 'stomach'.  The stomach is the inside bit!

Hmm.  Maybe it's because "tummy" or "belly" just sound really silly to me...I know stomach is just the internal organ, but it's the word I've learned (my parents almost never say tummy or belly either, now that I think about it!)  *shrug*

I agree with you on 'tummy'... that does sound very childish.

I don't like the word belly, gets on my nerves like the word panties does to Jennredd.

We say tummy with our little one, I just usually say stomach.

My weird thing is I wash my hands about a million times a day. I don't have OCD or anything, just a habit.

I cannot stand to hear people smack when they eat, drives me nuts.

I cannot stand tags in clothing - they get cut out first thing.

I can't chew gum - if it's in my mouth, I swallow, can't help it!

Yeah usually I hear it when people ask kids 'oh does your tummy hurt?'  I was soooo happy to hear my little 3 yr old niece saying 'my stomach hurts' all weekend.  Well,  not happy that her stomach hurt of course, but happy she used the term stomach!

It seems like tummy also refers to the internal organ as it's just a nickname for stomach.  Belly - ok that one yeah maybe, but still it's a dumb word.  When I went to the doctor and they told me I had too much fat around my waist, I think they called it 'belly fat'.  GROSS!  I just keep saying 'around my middle' or 'waist'.

My weird thing is I wash my hands about a million times a day. I don't have OCD or anything, just a habit.

Spending a week with my nieces and nephew again showed me that the oldest (6 yrs old) also has this washing hands thing.  The problem is it is causing her hands to get all red and chapped.  I feel really bad for her but it is just something she keeps doing.  I hope she'll grow out of it.  My sister and brother in law try to limit it but she still keeps it up.

I've never heard anyone here call them "pannies" but if I did, that would annoy me, too!
