Zeusy- Yes, BA does have much better seating. We usually always fly with them as they do a direct flight from BWI (Baltimore) to Heathrow every day and visa versa, so it was always very easy for us as when we were in Baltimore, we lived only 10 minutes from the airport. My brother-in-law also works for BA, so I know they are a wonderful company. We just flew Virgin because we were able to get the one way tickets for half the price, so when you look at it that way, I am not going to complain too much.
I also LOVE the salad cream here! I was just saying it at dinner yesterday. I too love ranch dressing, and will miss it, but the salad cream is a good substitute! One idea though is when you visit the US, or people come to visit you from the US, get them to bring the Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mixes (you know, the packet of powdery stuff that you mix with something to make dressing or dip). It is nice and small, easy to import.
Carrie- Yes, and no on the being scary to drive. I was the most nervous today when I did the Six Crossroads roundabout while heading out shopping. I did have my husband with me talking me through it, and luckily it is only a 2 lane round about, but it is still quite a lot with 6 roads feeding into it! I did ok. My husband says that he is quite impressed at how well I am doing. I mean, I have been driving for 10 years, so the driving is not the problem... It is remembering to stay on the left (especially when turning) and remembering all of the markings. I love not HAVING to stop at intersections if the way is clear. It is fabulous! saves those brakes! Oh, and Watch out for those speed cameras!
Oh, and one thing that I love finally is that some of the stores are begining to carry plus size clothing. I went in Bon marche today and they carry up to UK size 24, and also Tesco (some of them at least) also carry a new plus size line. I forget what it is called now, but I thought when I first moved that the only place I would be able to find clothing would be Evans, but things have changed a bit. I am settling right in!
Oh, and for those of you that like the good cup of British tea in the morning to wake up to, check out getting a Teasmade, or the brand that I got is called Tea:am. It is kinda like a coffee maker, and it came with 2 stainless steel cups, and you just put the water and tea bags in the thing every night (like a coffe machine), and then you can set the alarm clock, and it will set off the alarm clock and start making the tea. It even has a radio option if you don't like the buzzer. I love this country!
