Beat the heat dinners!
« on: July 04, 2006, 01:20:43 PM »
So what you are fixing for dinner to avoid roasting in the kitchen?

For us, I'm baking a whole chicken in the crock pot to be served with a cold couscous and garden salad.  Should be plenty of leftover chicken to have a cold chicken salad for dinner tomorrow.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

Salad Nicose last night and tonight... salad and um... probably a roast chicken from Sainsbury's if they are on sale if not then likely to be something grilled. :-)

We are having lots of different salads at the moment....last night it was Thai Chicken Salad (warm.....yummy!).

Sometimes it is a quiche with salad on the side.  Other times a pasta salad.....I'll try to think of other things we have eaten recently....

There are shops around which sell fireworks all year round.  Try Google.

It's not hot here... it's not even really warm.  But we are having leftovers from last night that can be microwaved, which would be really useful if we did have some hot weather and dont want to heat up the kitchen.

I stuck some chuck roast in the crockpot with 1 tin of coke, 1 bottle of bbq sauce, two onions and a packet of onion soup powder. We had mash potatoes, rolls, and pasta salad to go with it. Later, since it is the 4th of July, we'll have chips and dip while we watch the football.

We've both been afflicted with a bit of the boak the last couple days... [smiley=bleck.gif]  Yesterday was leftovers for DH, nothing for me.  Tonight we each had a bowl of cereal.

i stupidly made a curry for dinner to night.  wrong move in this heat if you ask me.

so i trotted off to the store tonight for some lovely salad mixings...and apparently everyone else has the same idea as the entire leafy green section was bare!  i ended up with a small head of iceberg lettuce...not my favorite...but it'll do i guess.

Actually, some might say curry is a proper move for the heat...because it makes you sweat (if it's hot enough), thereby cooling you down! ;) :)  There might even be people in really hot 'curry' countries who live by this!

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I did a tabbouleh while the in-laws were here, and put fried sliced halloumi on top.  MIL is a pescetarian.
