Because it was intended to be an uplifting and positive event, he agreed not to do it.

Exactly, and I completely agree!  Why bring it all down right at the end.

It was to celebrate her birthday, not her death day.

See, I'd wish I'd known that! We actually turned the television off after Take That, right when Elton John took the stage. I was so sure he'd do that song, and didn't think it would fit the event at all!

2) Ben Stiller bit...I can't agree more how inappropriate it all was...

I thought that was funny. :)

And Take That were great too.

My daughter and I were both disappointed. Three things really bothered me:
1) Keyan West's exit with THAT N word. As the mother of a mixed race child that word is forbidden in our home...it should have been censored just like...

I agree, that was definitely out of order.

I watched it on my TIVO yesterday (freaking thing didn't record it all!) but from what I saw I really liked. The only thing I didn't like was Fergie's performance...wtf? Didn't like her vocals either.

I really enjoyed Diddy's performence...I cried.

Thank god I didn't see Kanye's performence...I probably would have fast forwarded anyway.

Elton John has categorically stated he will not sing that song ever again. And I admire him for standing up for that as it would have been far too easy to do at the concert.

The Feeling were awesome :D

I watched bits of it. Duran Duran were TRAGIC.  The music was abysmal. John Taylor used to be so gorgeous and now he just looks like a caricature of a drug addled middle aged rocker. Sad.

I'm a huge Duran fan and I didn't think they were that bad, but John didn't look that great.  I'm hoping it was just jetlag or a lack of sleep.

I watched part of it on VH1, and I did see "Take That" perform.

I just have to ask...

WHY do people like them? They're truly horrid! And the dancers in their first number... they were like slutty syncronized swimmers with gigantic metallic hand fans. It was really bizarre and I just couldn't get into their songs from their set. Maybe they're not good live?

I TOTALLY agree!! They all loook like they need a good bath and shave-one of them reminds me of a grubby version of Willem Dafoe!

I didn't get the girls at all-what were they supposed to be and what were the props?

Most of the current Take That fans are the same girls who loved them 10-15 years ago. The band was such a big part of being a pre-teen/teenager back in the early 90's, so they're hanging on to the Take That they remember, rather than the Take That they are now. They could get up on stage and stand there in silence and half the audience would still scream because their childhood idols were in front of them, lol!

Actually that explains a lot!  [smiley=laugh4.gif]
