how funny that this pops up now!

dh & i just got the laptop/broadband set up a few weeks ago & have been creating download setlists with near-religious ferfour.

i just threw together a list of 80s songs the other night. many have already been mentioned, but here's a few more anyway:

the reflex -- duran duran

time (clock of the heart) -- culture club

let's dance -- bowie

william, it was really nothing -- the smiths

every day is like sunday -- the smiths

cuts you up -- peter murphy

sweetest drop -- peter murphy

killing moon -- echo & the bunnymen

running up that hill -- kate bush

can you tell i was depressed as a teenager?! :P

it's not where you're born, it's where you belong

-U2, 'summer rain'

I beat ya to the Killing Moon one!

OK, a couple more:

The Unguarded Moment - The Church

Golden Brown - The Stranglers

Love of the Common People - Paul Young

Desire - Gene Loves Jezebel

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Ah, Aqua-Net.  How I miss thee.

I remember practically every morning the girl's bathroom in my school would always have an Aqua-Net cloud.  We would be coughing and almost choking to death, but we didn't care we would just keep on spraying.  Memories.

My sister and I both subscribed to the "wave" fad. We had bangs/fringe that formed a 2-3 inch tall swoopy wave on top of our heads. In addition, we would wear these humongous ribbon bows that my grandma would always make us. We must have had 50-60 each because my grandma would buy ribbon to match our outfits, and eventually she started to just make different combos of the same colors. Pair that with our multiple pairs of socks to match the outfits (like wearing black socks with bright blue socks on top on one foot and bright blue with black on top on the other foot, so matching but different) and the tee shirt ties, and we were pretty stylin!

I remember trying to get someone to explain it to me once! She'd tried it, but I never had.  [smiley=laugh4.gif]

The Pogues - Fairytale in New York

I JUST discovered that song this past Christmas and I love it! I'm also a fan of "Irish Rover" too, also a new discovery for me. Seems like it wasn't as popular in the US? Not sure!

My friend and I were at the Taste of Chicago a few weeks ago and a radio station broadcasting there was playing "Rebel Yell".  We stood right next to the speakers and it was like we were at a concert.  That song still kicks ass.

Cheesiest videos ever looking back now, but we used to watch them over and over again. Anybody remember the super tight pants all the guys in Van Halen wore?
