We tend to go once a year (usually Christmas).  My parents are coming here in September and we're hoping that'll start to set the precedent of us there once a year, them here once a year.   ;)

I have gone home a few times due to my wedding in the States as well as other big events.  But normally I'll be going home every two years for a few weeks - visiting my dad, step-mom, bro & sis-in-law in one place and mom, her partner & a lot of other family in another place.  I doubt I'll go back much more often and am hoping that my family and/or friends will come to see me as well.

We just got back from visiting my family and have decided we won't be going back for at least a year (probably two).

My parents are supposed to come next summer, which would be great.

Back to the US, once per calendar year - sometimes longer or shorter than 12 months, depending on timing.  We were there last around Easter 2006, and will not be going back until sometime this autumn (so about 1 1/2 years this time between visits).

Mom's in a nursing home & it's doubtful she'll know me this time - but we always go to visit her.  I may not see both brothers each visit, because everyone is so spread out (Mom-Kansas, Brother-Atlanta, Brother-Baltimore, Friends-Maine, some of my things still in storage-Florida).  We only go for two weeks & once you've done all the internal flights, etc - it's exhausting & expensive, so we just can't see everyone each time.

No one comes here to visit - some can't or don't like to travel, others think that Britain is simply too expensive for someone paying in dollars.  Four people came to our wedding here in England, but that was in 2004.

Ideally I'd like to go home twice a year - for one winter holiday (Thanksgiving or Xmas) and sometime in the spring/summer. Right now that isn't happening and we may move there before I get to visit again! Normally my mother gets over about once a year but this has been a tough year so it hasn't happened yet. Maybe this autumn. We've had other family/friends visit but due to individual circumstances, it's hard for many of them to do so now.

If we move to the US, I'd like to see the same happen - 2 visits here a year and one visit a year from DH's family to US. However, his Dad is afraid of flying and has a really bad back. I think his parent's will visit once, but not sure if they would do more. DH's twin will probably also visit once but I don't know if they'd try for a yearly visit. Unlikely I expect.

We had more US people here for our wedding in 2004 than DH's UK friends/family. :/
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Dh & I usually try to go home at least once a year for at least 2 or 3weeks around Thanksgiving time. none of my family can afford to fly here for a vist which is ok I understand that.  :(  when we go back to Indiana we see all my family cause they all live in towns close to each other within an hour's driving distance in Indiana. I usually dont get to see my Best friend when I'm home though she lives in California.  :\\\'( sometimes I get lucky when were home & my best friend flies in to see her mom & sisters when Im home in Indiana.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

We've missed two Christmases in the States over the past six, but we try to go there for at least three weeks every year. It all depends on money this year.

I am only 275 miles from my family right now and only go home to see them once a year.  I don't drive so it's quite a pain travelling home.  Once I move to the UK, the frequency of their visits will only depend on their willingness to get and maintain their passports.  I would much rather have them come to us than vice versa.

I haven't gone home since last September, and won't visit until Christmas - 15 months

Then after the Christmas visit, I won't go back home until it's time for my wedding next October- 10 months

Once I've got my spousal visa, it'll be about the same- so once per year or so.
Now a triple citizen!

I used to go home every year or two for about the first ten years I lived here, but now I haven't been home since 1999.  My mom comes over to see us every other year, usually around Christmas.  My Dad's been twice, in 1991 and 2000.

I've been here 4+ years and have only been back to the US once. I visited friends, though, not family, and only went back because a friend was getting married and I was a bridesmaid. I can't imagine myself going back for another few years. Maybe in 2010 for my college reunion? But then, only if my bf can come with me.

My dad has been over here twice in the past year so I've seen quite a bit of him lately, but both times have been for rather out of the ordinary reasons - first, because I was having major surgery; and second, for a big family wedding in the UK.

When I lived in the US, I was a long way from my dad, anyway, so it's nothing really new. I was in Rhode Island and he was in Louisiana, so it was the norm for us to see each other every 2-3 years.

2010 is my parent's 50th wedding anniversary, so we're already planning to try very hard to go for that.  :)
