RIP Tony Wilson

Manchester legend and indie hero Tony Wilson has died of kidney cancer.
Without Tony, there'd have been no Joy Division or New Order or Madchester.

We've been in mourning all day today. Tony Wilson is basically the reason my husband started a record label. I'm glad so many people are taking notice of his passing.

Terrible shame.  Not just a legend of British music, but an excellent broadcaster and generally nice guy.

What a loss.  It seems weird that Tony Wilson died while the Happy Monday guys are still going strong.
And the world first spoke to me in Sensurround

I agree, it is a loss, and a tad strange.

There was a great documentary about Joy Division / Factory/ Tony / Hacienda / Manchester, etc on BBC Four on Friday night... thoroughly enjoyed it!

Cr@p!  We missed it.  I looked on the BBC 4 website and can't find if they are going to repeat it!

It's being repeated tonight at 9pm, according to the Radio Times!

Anyone heard of the Anton Corbijn film Control with Samanatha Morton? I think it is out soon.

Looks like it might be good. And there was an article about it in last weekend's Guardian Weekend magazine.

Was that the article where they interviewed Ian Curtis' daughter? I read that. It does sound like a very interesting film

I've been waiting for it ever since Cannes!
It's released on 5 Oct, i believe...
