Everybody, thanks for your concern and help.
I figured that I either had appendicitis or a really bad Urinary Tract Infection. I've had the latter before twice as a side effect of medication that I was on, and it sucked -- but it felt like it, this time, about ten times worse than usual. Worries of appendicitis came up when I was lying in bed with my boyfriend three nights ago and he was extremely worried about that because of the location of the pain.
Needless to say, by the time he got home from work, he was freaking out, and we went to the A&E. So, we get there, and it's full of people who look just about miserable and it's a two hour wait until a doctor can see a patient. It didn't seem to matter that I didn't have a GP -- I feel like in America it definitely would have mattered if there was no insurance. I had my passport with visa, so the check in guy looked at that, and then asked for "Next of Kin", which I found to be particularly morbid (at that time.... Has anybody ever been asked that in America?). So, I said what was happening, and that the pain was severe. The guy told us to go through the back door, because he was going to let us in to see a doctor immediately. We bipassed the entire 2 hour line, which was great.
Anyways, so we get back there, and I have to do a bunch of tests. A woman does a blood test and puts in an IV. I'm waiting there for a while. I'm wheeled into another area to wait for a doctor. I'm there for about an hour. IV is starting to prickle and such. Another nurse comes in to help me and basically says, "Well, you aren't pregnant!" to which my boyfriend and I just say, "WE KNOW!" which was rather amusing. Anyways, she confirms that I have an extremely bad Urinary Tract Infection, and luckily, not appendicitis. So, I get antibiotics (FOR FREE!!!!!!!) and I get told what to do, and my boyfriend gets told to keep close watch and stuff like that. Afterwards, she goes, "Oh sh*t. You weren't supposed to have an IV. And the woman before forgot to give you pain killers. Damn. Sorry!" But other than that it was a really good experience.
Sorry for the story share, but I felt that it was an extremely pleasant outcome. When somebody told me that if I had an operation I probably wouldn't be able to go home for Christmas, I practically lost it.
All's well end's well... or something like that.
