Oh wow I'm so sorry.... They'll help you...just let them know how you're feeling and be 100% honest so they know what to do or what plan of action to take.

My sister was suicidal a few years ago and they put her on prozak which made it worse. Don't give up if the medicine (if you choose to go that route) doesn't work...just try another one. My sister tried 3 different ones before she found one that really helped her.

Just try to stay positive and know you have plenty of support here and I'm sure with your family and your husband. Take care of yourself and don't worry about others right now.

I'll be thinking about you. Get well

Hiya
Your making the right step.. See your GP.. Make sure to tell him/her everything about how you have/are feeling..or as Penguin said they canna help to their best ability. Most important is to get yourself in a better place. If you aren't in a good/better place it makes it all the more difficult to be there for anyone else.
There are lots of anti depressants out there.. Also lots of support groups.. Remember we are alwayws here to listen.. Someone is always about ...
Take gentle care. and take things one step at a time.. :)

I can't honestly say I know what would and wouldn't happen on the custody level. But, I do know that you can't not get help no matter what the circumstances, especially if the alternative is you attempting suicide. Please speak to your GP.

I don't have much to add just wanted to say I'm thinking of you.

When I was pregnant with Emily and she was just born, I went through a very bad time. Paul and I were living in different countries. I didn't have a full-time job. We lived in a bad neighborhood. Just a bunch of stuff. I went to a therapist at the local mental health (in US). She practiced something called dialectal behavioral therapy. It was really helpful. I'm a total control freak and I couldn't handle that things were out of my control. It taught me some very useful tools that I use to this day. So hang in there...and demand the help you need.

Not sure about the custody part of the deal, but I've been through the depression bit waaaaaay too many times.

I'm not going to offer advice, as such. It's good you went to your GP, and it's good you'll be getting follow-up treatment. Stick with it.

If you want to talk at all, PM me. Even if it's just commiserating about stuff, it does sometimes help.

Hi.

I wanted to tell you I am thinking about you.  I definitely think you should speak to your GP.  Also, if you go to this website: http://wam.bacp.co.uk/wam/SeekTherapist.exe?NEWSEARCH  it will help you find accredited Therapists in your area.  It might help to start talking what you are feeling through with someone.  Even if it is just a stop gap measure until you can get a different kind of help, this may provide some help for you!  I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling in this way.  I am keeping you in my thoughts.

No advise either, but I wanted you to know you're not alone and I'm thinking of you.

I'm glad you went to your GP, telling the doctor everything is best. Also, to build on what Penguin said, the first therapist you see may not be the best match for you, so make sure you get one that is a good fit with you too. Please take care of yourself.

I'm thinking of you too.

Just FYI, you can ask your GP if he can refer you to a private counselor - the waiting list will be shorter. I did this when I was suffering from sleep problems last year. Some private counseling places will reduce their rates based on your income;I'm not sure how immigration status fits into this.

Social services is not likely to get involved unless you are putting your stepson at risk and even then there are still your husband with parental responsibility. You are doing the right thing to seek help and improve the situation. That's all anyone can really ask.

Good luck.

your GP needs to try you on something else!

and if he won't, see another doctor in the practice and/or go to A&E and get a referral to see a consultant psychiatrist.

suicidal feelings can be a side effect for some on certain anti-depressants.

you probably need to try another one, and you need help coming off the paxil and moving to another AD and managing the side effects from this.
