When I made Rice Krispie treats for my kids to take to school here, their classmates hadn't had them.  The teacher asked what was in them, and she said the usual thing is to have them mixed with chocolate rather than marshmallow.

That said, I've seen the marshmallow "ready made" variety at Sainsburys.  In with the Granola Bars!  As if there was anything healthy about them... :D

I love rice crispie treats but really don't like the chocolate cornflake thingamys they have here. I prefer chewy treats!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Me neither!!  My DH thinks I'm mad to pass up such a treat, but give me chewy marshmallow over chocolate cornflakes any day.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Well, I went ahead and made chocolate oatmeal no bakes with the peanut butter, we'll see how the office mates like this.........and I sent over chocolate chip cookies as well.  My husband loves taking these treats to the office but I'm racking my brain trying to come up with a new variety.  Please give me some ideas.

What about mollasses?

Our family always maks the rice crispy treats with marshmallows and Nestle choc chips.  They are so easy and so good.

Honestly, I wouldn't stress about pleasing your husband's workmates, but I think chocolate brownies are usually a winner in most offices, but I suppose it depends what kind of people work there.

I was just about to say that a combination of marshmallow and chocolate sounds like it would be great!!  :)

That's right... they THINK they dont like it, even before they've tasted it!
If you dont tell your colleagues it's got peanut butter in it, they are usually pleasantly surprised.

Mine say this about cinnamon too but they usually really like it because they don't get it often.

;) I reckon if I use cardamom and told them they'd love it straight away since it has a huge influence over here. I don't particularly favor it though but I am a cinnamon girl.

Definitely.

I made baklava last week. Very easy and people liked it.

IMO the marshmallows in the UK do not melt and stay lovely and soft like US marshmallows do (which is why I always bring bags of marshmallows back to the UK with me) If anyone has found any that are as good as the US ones, please let me know! I love rice krispy treats.

I make lots of American Style stuff and bring them to my workmates, Hello Dollys, Toll House cookies, snickerdoodles and they all love them.

Marhmallows here do have a different texture than the ones at home.  I can't say exactly what is different, slightly chewier, tougher, something?  Also, why do they always seem to have pink ones inthe bag?

I noticed they don't brown quite as nicely when making s'mores.  I have never tried to make treats with them.

I did see some  "American" style ones the other day at the store, maybe these would work better?  I nev

Or making them with cocoa krispies! I know someone who adds to the chocolatey goodness by also using chocolate marshmallows when she can find them! Delicious!!

I've noticed that Cocoa Pops taste different from Cocoa Krispies, so I don't know if they would taste as good. Is there a difference in taste between the regular Rice Krispies?

UK Rice Krispies = UK Rice Krispies, as far as I can tell.

UK Cheerios on the other hand...not the same.

Maybe it's just me, but I find UK Cheerios to be identical to multi-grain US Cheerios and UK Oat Cheerios to be exactly like US Cheerios. I even think that having had them on both sides of the Atlantic within the past couple of months....

I guess my palate just isn't that refined.  ;)

I haven't tried the UK Oat Cheerios, but we've found the same with the Multi-Grain.
