The Fashion Museum! One of my favourite places! And it's right next to the Assembly Rooms, so check them out while you're there.

The Roman Baths ... and make sure to have tea next door in the Pump Room.

And don't forget the Jane Austen Centre.

You're going at the wrong time of the year for the American Museum, but that might mean you'll have to plan another trip for later on!

There's so much to do in Bath!! We haven't even touched on the shopping yet!  :)

Two of my favourite Bath restaurants are The Moon and Sixpence and One Fish Two Fish. For vegetarians, I'd also highly recommend Demuths. (I see that The Moon and Sixpence has been closed for refurbishment, so you might want to phone them to make sure they're open!)

Also they do a free walking tour ( I think it is 2 hours) which goes over all the history/architecture of Bath! I have done it 4 times  :P and I still learn something new each time. They are through the Mayor of Bath -Honorary Guides:

Walking Tours of Bath. A free service provided daily (Sun-Fri 10.30 & 14.00, Sat 10.30), tours leave from outside the main entrance to the Pump Room. May to September additional tours on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at 19.00. Tours last approximately 2 hrs. No pre-booking necessary for individuals, but group bookings should be made well in advance.

Also, don't forget you could spend a day at the new Bath Spa!!

I highly recommend the free walking tours that start outside the Roman baths. I've done them a couple of times and they're excellent.

The American Museum of Bath looks good, but it's pricey! There are some good walks around the rim of Bath. If you go to the visitor's centre they should be able to give you a flyer with the maps.

My housemate tried to go to the Moon and Sixpence the other night and it was still closed. I like Martini's Ristorante on George Street. The Hole in the Wall is also supposed to be nice. That's also on George Street. The Beaujolais Restaurant has been recommended to me. There's a new greek restaurant called Opa next to the Parade bridge. I've heard it's good, but haven't been. Plan on going there in a few weeks for my birthday. The Crystal Palace is good gastropub. The Old Green Tree is a very cozy little pub on Green Street with nice sandwiches and such.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know!

Is the "Great American Disaster" still in business? I wouldn't recommend it it was.

I've been to Beaujolais and didn't like it much.

I have no idea what this is.

Huh, that's interesting. I'll keep it in mind if anyone ever suggests it to me again!

There's another French restaurant along the same alley as Sally Lunn's which is supposed to be excellent, but I can't remember the name.

It's a wee while since we went but there is a really cool pub that has live jazz, I'll try and remember the name of it!

I'm a student living in Bath. I forget the name of the place with live jazz, but it's in Green Park, near Sainsburys.

Down one of the side streets, near the Abbey, there's this lovely place called Ben's Cookies. I think, it's a month since I've actually been into the city xD But they do sinfully gooey, delicious, yummy, massive cookies of all kinds.

The Baths are lovely. Bath students get in free, so when a friend came to visit we spent hours going round there. Make sure you get your money's worth - the audio guides are really good too, the bits by Bill Bryson especially.

It's the Green Park Pub. You can't miss it if you're going to Sainsbury's. There's also a really nice farmers market behind it on Saturday mornings.

I was talking with someone about Bath last month (I want to go, too!) and was told there is some kind of work going on (road work? construction?) that is making access to some areas difficult. Does anyone in Bath know if this is still going on or what areas to avoid until the work is over? Or maybe ways to bypass congested areas? When will the work be over?

They're building some kind of new shopping centre, and it's going on until 2010 or something like that. There's been an improvement since I got here back in September - one-way streets have been re-opened to two-way ones, for example - but Bath is always, always congested, unless it's about 2am. You could try using one of the Park and Ride options, where you park out from the city centre and get a bus into the middle.

Yes, if you're only visiting for the day, it's highly suggested you use the park and ride. Parking in Bath is no fun right now. The main area of road works is just by the train station. You can certainly avoid it, but traffic can be a nightmare and it's definitely cheaper to use the P&R. The work won't be over for a while and they are constantly changing the roads that are open and closed.
