Have you tried the things called 'cheese savouries'? They come in a bag and are always (from what I've seen)  generic store brand. They're in with the crisps. I love them. They've filled the hole I had from Its, Nips, and Goldfish.
I will keep an eye out for the cheese savouries....and now you just reminded me of (yummy, salty, crunchy, cute-shaped) Goldfish--I had forgotten all about them--darn!!

I've seen Goldfish here before, but not recently. They're called something else (I can't remember what), but they're exactly the same otherwise.

I can't believe I've been here over a year and haven't run into Ritz crackers before now!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Am I the only dork who decided that shopping for British ingredients (and Polish!) would be more fun that trying to find American ingredients?  I am in complete and utter awe every time I go into the supermarket to see what I can find this time around. (Granted, I have only been here 1 month!)-  But I haven't even begun to seek out American ingredients, as I want the whole experience! I'm crazy, I know!!

So not a dork!  But you may find the longer you're here, the more you find yourself craving a taste of home.

Yeah, I'm sure I will.  But for now, I'll enjoy myself. :)

I once made eggnog in August. Sometimes, there's an itch and it plain old needs scratching.

(Yes, it tasted exactly like the supermarket kind! I was so happy!)

That's not crazy at all!! I don't really crave much American stuff either.  :)

Hey, I made it from scratch once, and it didn't taste like the supermarket kind until I added brandy!  Oh well, more fun that way  ;)

...there is no reason to accept life meekly when it doesn't give you Triscuits every now and then...

LOL!  FWIW, I took a box of the black pepper & olive oil flavored Triscuits to my (British) in-laws for Christmas, thinking - oh they probably won't like these (because DH doesn't).  My FIL & MIL couldn't get enough of them & my FIL declared them so good as to say it's simply preposterous that they aren't being sold over here -- because there most certainly would be a demand for a biscuit like that!  He couldn't understand why you can buy Ritz & other American products here (that he doesn't particularly care for) but that you can't buy Triscuits -- a far superior biscuit to many commonly available in the UK, according to FIL.  I was so pleased! ;D

Have since been debating whether to send him my one remaining (unopened) box or keep them all for myself... :-[

Don't remember what a triscuit tastes like nor recall if I even liked them! But I do remember part of a song about them from an advert when I was a kid hmmm...

I kind of think of it like what Weetabix would be like - made into a cracker, except I don't like Weetabix & I loooooove Triscuits.  They have a basket weave-y sort of appearance.  Here's an image from t'internet, with an anchovy (yuck!) on it:

They come in lots of great flavors too - as well as plain! :)

It's all so weirdly random.

Does anybody remember, some years ago, when they introduced Entenmann's cakes and cookies in the UK with great fanfare? My other half thought I'd be delighted, but I was, like, "Entenmann's. Oh. Swell."

It must not have gone over, because I can't recall seeing them since, come to think of it.

I'm sure they're lovely, but that looks like a lizard tongue on a shreddie.  Bleugh.

I miss trisquits.

It's really strange the stuff I miss, really random. The other day I had a craving for Corn Pops so bad I almost cried. And for baked ziti the way my local pizzeria made it.

But overall, I do like the adventure of discovering new food here. I stay away from most of the really outre stuff like black pudding and anything made with kidneys, but otherwise it's all good.

If only I could find a Polish grocery somewhere nearby. I'd be over the moon.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"
