We had a discussion about this last night, in which I told dh other husbands can actually do the shopping and eat veg.  He's probably reading this thread as we speak, so everyone wave to him!   ;)

I do know he's stressed about switching jobs, so more and more has slipped, but his ignoring bit of the list has been consistent from even before he turned in his notice.  He's excellent about picking us up treats, not so excellent about the good for you stuff.  He did agree to let me proof the lists from now on if he does the shopping, but as I do most of the cooking, I'll probably do most of the shopping.  So, I think now, since lunch sucked, I'll go rummage through our cupboards and open one of the bizillion chocolate biscuit packages we have.  Sadly, we have no beer.  Otherwise, I'd have him drink one each night, so he'd get some sleep (see my IA for further details).   :-\\\\

Before I read the rest of it - I thought you were saying you wanted to eat chocolate biscuits & drink beer for lunch! [smiley=doh.gif]

I love the Cadbury Drinking Chocolate too!

My boyfriend doesn't wake up in a panic from not eating his veg, but he does moan and groan about not getting enough veg.

Sorry, would there be a problem with that?  ;)

I have that moan all the time because unlike my lovely partner, to me a potato doesn't count.  ;)  :P

What potatoes aren't vegetables?  At Cracker Barrel even macaroni and cheese is a vegetable!   ;)  ;D

HA!  I freaking love that.  I always get the six-veg platter intstead of the the four-veg, and have mac and cheese and applesauce as my two extra "veg." :D

Nothing wrong with it - except the combination doesn't really sound that appetising!  Also, I don't like beer anyway. :P

Well, my take on it is that potatoes are more of a starch--like corn (though corn is a grain like wheat).  So they are starch and sugar really--no fiber and I'm not sure how much vitamins they have, but I don't think they have much.

Potatoes are very high in potassium and vitamin C, and they do have some fiber.

Actually potatoes are quite good for you.  It all depends on how you eat them.

As far as the government recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables - potatoes aren't included as one.
