Mine all went a bit pear shaped as my computer died a long, painful death and then I ended up getting a great promotion at work which meant incredibly long hours and very little free time. I'm still shockingly busy, but with my spiffy new laptop, I don't have an excuse not to get back into the swing of things.

So I've decided to start afresh with a new blog here: http://geordieville.blogspot.com/

Nothing is added yet, still fiddling around with it and will post my first pic tomorrow.
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

I'm considering moving my 365 from Blogger to some other hosting site, but I need advice. I know some of you use WordPress, and I do like that it allows photos to be bigger - but, honestly, I can't make heads or tails of WordPress. Is it just me, or is it really user-unfriendly? Are there any other sites that people would recommend besides Blogger and WP? Are there any designed specifically for photo blogs? (Must be free)

Why are you considering moving?

Why are you considering moving?

Because I like the bigger space WordPress gives for photos. Mine seem so piddly in comparison. But I don't really like much else about WordPress. I'm just looking for other options.  :-\\\\

I moved to WordPress - mostly because I wanted to have tabbed pages. I found it confusing at first, but I think now it's pretty straightforward (just different from Blogger). And, as you said, I also like the bigger picture option. There are a ton of templates, too and the option to be a bit more creative, IMO.

I don't know of any other hosting sites, but I'd be interested to hear of others!

I'm planning on starting another 365 in a week or so, and am trying to decide where to store my photos.  I've been using Photobucket, but since I'm starting fresh I figured I'd see what other people like.

And could someone tell me what's so fabulous about Flickr?  It doesn't seem all that different from other storage sites.

I started a blog on Wordpress ages ago that I dumped quickly because I also found WP difficult to use. It's just not very intuitive.

I know you said you want free, but if people are looking for another blogging site and can afford a bit, take a look at TypePad. A basic blog (which is more than adequate for a 365) is only $4.95 per month. They are doing a 14 day free trial. Many of their templates are very photo-oriented. I'm toying with using them for my next 365 as I already have an account with them.

Now if I could just get my new 365 going... we've had major camera problems so my start date is up for debate. :(

I've really only played around with it for an hour or so this morning, but I didn't find it to be very creative. Is there a way to adapt/edit the templates? I couldn't find one. I like that I can change colours, fonts, etc. in the templates on Blogger.

You can Google free templates for Wordpress and Blogger. There are creative techno folk out there who love to make them and you can usually get the code for free along with instructions for how to apply them. Kayla, didn't you do that with your 365? I tried to but could never get it to work. I'm sure I was missing something simple, but I never figured it out. Whether or not you can edit those, I don't recall but you might find a template you like a lot more that way...
