Come Dine With Me
« on: April 19, 2008, 12:15:38 PM »
Who's watching?! And did anyone else think all the food served last week looked horrible?!!? I guess the woman who won was OK, but still not a patch on the usual contestants. And that other woman? The dinner guest from hell. Ugh. I hated her so much!

I'm so addicted to this show!!

The woman who won was OK but pretty much anyone could have done that dinner. And her hostess skills were nothing special. The others were AWFUL. OMG I would have starved at most of those dinner parties!! The politician was killing me though - his red lips on the first night after he was pounding the red wine!!  :-X

Oh, and his salad of tuna and beans - no dressing. Mmmm.

His food was nasty! That dessert ... a banana and some tinned mandarins with squirty cream?? Huh? Have they never watched the programme before?!?!

I was actually disappointed that the horrible woman wasn't a worse cook. She wasn't great, but I wanted her to be truly awful.

Me too!! I was praying that she'd burn everything to a crisp. I have to say though... paella in the oven? Not too sure about that. The shellfish HAD to have been over cooked!!!

If I wasn't so scared of being on TV I'd sign up for it - I think it looks super fun!

Oh and I LOVE Rowland Rivron - doesn't he also do the voice over for that Saturday morning take-away show?

He was the guest morning DJ on BBC London for a while and I absolutely fell in love with him. I think we'd be BFFs if I ever met him.  ;)

God no. There are SO many reasons I could never do it. But I do like to fantasize about what I'd do if I were on it!  ;D

I watched a repeat of this show last weekend on some obscure channel... but it was 5 contestants and each one got a whole half hour show... I kindof nipped in and out while I was doing sunday dinner. It was very engrossing...I was just disappointed that the German winner was a) such a cow and b) every german stereotype come to life.... but her meal looked great!!! ;D

That's how it used to be. I kind of preferred it that way! Still, I'm just glad they're doing new episodes!

I don't know if I preferred that or not.... I like not having to watch it every night (wasn't that the old format - on for a week and they showed one person every night) but I liked that you saw quite a bit more detail about their house, etc.

When are the new episodes on? I only ever seem to catch the repeats.

Yes, it was every night, but I'd generally manage to catch it on a weekend when they played the whole week's worth at one go!

Thursday at 8pm on Channel 4.  :)

Thanks! I'll set my Sky+ box for it.

We watched it for the first time last night.  That woman was simply dreadful.  I kind of felt sorry for the guy who made the nice seafood spread and two of them were so unappreciative.  I'm a little seafood squeamish at times too, and not the biggest fan of shells and tentacles, but I would eat them and not complain at someone's dinner party - and it looked like he did a nice job with it.

I thought he did a lovely job, too, and should probably have won. It's hardly fair to give someone a low score just because you don't happen to like shellfish or garlic or whatever. They come up with their menus before meeting so, unless someone specifies that they're a vegetarian or have allergies, how in the world can they know what not to cook? Poor man. Single, though! I hope he gets some offers after that programme! Rich and a good cook!  :)
