We didn't end up doing adult favours but pondered doing shortbread.

I know of someone marrying a Manxman who's having Manx Knobs and Hershey's Kisses.

Our wedding was here in the UK.  We only had 20 people total including us.  Each place setting had a tiny flower bouquet in a tiny glass vase (there were place card holders too) and people could take them if they wanted.  Also each place had a little box with 4 Thorntons choccies in it. :)

My fiance is stuck on the idea of personalised rock...a-la:

I do like the idea, but I'm not completely sold, though, as it would be a bit more money than i had anticipated spending on favours.  But would definitely be unique and fun for the reception here in the States!

Our wedding theme was ducks; we used different types of rubber duckies (pirate ducks, cowboy ducks, hippie ducks, etc.) as place cards (with a square of cardstock tied round the duck's neck) and sent those home as favors.  Every time we meet up with someone who was at the wedding, they show us (or tell us) what their duckie is up to these days - it's really cute. :)

Aww Meg that sounds really neat!  There are some seriously cool ducks around now, you can get practically anything!

We bought nearly 300 of them off ebay - they came in sets of 12, and the largest table we had was eight, I think, plus we have a few sets that didn't get used (red hat lady ducks, leprechaun ducks, halloween ducks) - we still have SO MANY DUCKS that it's not even funny.  ::)

You should have seen the look on our reception venue manager's face when we dropped them all off.  Wait, I've got a photo somewhere...

Hee!  Sort of - a "rock 'n' roll" duck with an Elvis hairdo.  He's wearing a wifebeater, though, rather than a white spangled jumpsuit! :D

We are doing a Candy Buffet with personalized little bags to take home.  We had originally wanted to do 3-4 candies from each culture, but that was proving difficult.  We would have had to schlep over at least 20lbs of UK candy to the US, as we couldn't find enough UK varieties on bulk websites in the US.  So we scrapped that idea and just went with all candy in our wedding colours - Green and Brown.

For my step-daughter's wedding we did Fortune Cookies with personalised messages inside - wasn't expensive (I know that because we didn't have a lot to spend!)

We did nothing.  Most of the people I polled said they throw stuff away or it gets hidden in a junk drawer, so I didn't see the point (food sounds good though).  I put the money into other areas (buying bindis for the women).  I didn't have a single person say they missed having a favor.

I would like to attend a wedding where 'adult favours' are given out! ;) :P 8)

That is so lovely, unique, awesome and seems completely "you!" I'd definitely prefer those kinds of whimsical favors over the usual stuff that gets given out, and immediatly thrown out.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"
