Indiana Jones: Possible Spoiler
« on: June 18, 2008, 12:03:29 AM »
Get ready for a SHOCK.

The woman who plays the bad guy in Indiana Jones is the same actress who played Galadriel in Lord of the Rings!   :o

Normally I don't take notice of who plays what in a movie, but in Indiana Jones, she was obviously wearing a balconette style bra and it was absolutely HOT.  And that grabbed my attention to the extent that I had to look it up in the movie database.

In LOTR the costumes were all sort of loose and flowing, hence the difference.

Just thought I'd pass that along.  Hope it doesn't ruin anybody's enjoyment of either film.

I'm going to have to watch LOTR again!   ;D

Garry, you need to get out more.

It's Cate Blanchett.  http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000949/

Elizabeth, LOTR, Charlotte Gray, Veronica Guerin...one Oscar, 3 further nominations, 2 BAFTAS, one of the worlds most talented, famous and sought after actresses....

No?  Ringing no bells?  Dear me!

 ;)

No ruining here. I thought this Indy was one of the WORST films I've ever seen. If we're doing a spoiler all I need to say is spaceship. WTF???????

Garry, what the heck is a balconette style bra??  ???

Anyway she is exceptionally beautiful and would be hot in an elf costume (I prefer elves myself  ;) ) or a burlap bag with or without any kind of special undergarments.

DITTO..  The kids loved it but I was checking the watch frequently... I thought the first 20 minutes and the last bit with the spaceship were...just bad.

OH! I enjoyed it.  But then I'm an Indy fan.  My younger brother was obsessed and saw the first two a squillion times.
The spaceship worked  for me.  I thought it was cool.  There's always supernatural in Indy films AND you can't be that surprised that George Lucas and Speilburg would eventually get space involved.

If I could wake up tomorrow and look like anyone it would be Cate Blanchett.  She is divine.

Horrible.  I thought of three different ways to make that movie while I was sitting in the theatre.  Plus, what was with all the throw away plots points that made no sense.  Why bring up McCarthyism, he could have easily been going on summer vacation. What was with the stupid animal shots, the prairie dogs and monkeys. WHY do Lucas and Speilberg insist on ruining my childhood?

I agree they all have elements of supernatural, but in the first and last film these were supernatural elements that had a familiar background.  The aliens things was so throwaway, like ummmmm, oh yeah, it was aliens, or whatever.  Don't ask us why the would destroy their own temple or all the artifacts they collected or where they came from, or why they picked South America.....

I agree COMPLETELY. To continue with the nonsense. They threw that skull around like it weighed two pounds. It was crystal. It looked like tin foil was inside it too. ????

The part where Marion seemed like she would "handle" the situation when driving. OFF A CLIFF ONTO A BUSH?! Come on! And, then they go over not one but two waterfalls and survive? I thought I was watching Land of the Lost for a bit there.

Killer ants? Do I need to say more.

The bomb in the beginning was one thing. I have to say I liked the effects but why did that fictional town they were blowing up even need electricity and the like? Silly.

The alien part I get based on some of the lore behind those skulls in actual reality but a spaceship? Seriously, what the hell. None of them even flinched. Indy okay maybe but the rest didn't even think that was spectacular?

Who were that tribe coming out of the walls and ceiling anyway? No one even questioned them and then with the waving of a skull they disappear never to be seen again even when things got hairy with the temple at the end.

I am a HUGE Indy fan and Lucas for his first 3 attempts with Star Wars....I can even get past the last three but what in the hell was this story? They had how many years to get this right and THIS is what they came up with? COME ON! I'm angry because I waited so long and this is what I saw. I am glad I didn't pay and I am glad I watched the first one again to remind me that there was at least one good Indy film. Now I'm worried because there are talks of more and that damn kid taking over would send me over the edge and it will happen.

I didn't mind the film but it reaked of trying to bleed a old story dry to me....same as Terminator 3 with a geratric robot defending the earth....becomes a bit tragic..and ruins the previous films..

I think it was only a film to start new episodes with Indy junior...

:)

I'm with Mindy here.  I really enjoyed it.  Granted, the first three were better, but I think they did a great job with the movie.

The alien/spaceship thing was an unsurprising choice based on the time frame of the movie.  The 50's was the heyday of the outer-space-movie-as-metaphor-for-current-politics (Invasion of the Body Snatchers, anyone?).  Both Spielberg and Lucas have said that that was one of the reasons behind the story.

I was very pleased that they made so many references to Marcus Brody/Denholm Elliot in the film.  It wouldn't have been an Indy film without him. :(

I got that idea of it. I understand the use but the way it was written and actually put into the movie is where I have a problem. There are so many reasonable ways they could have integrated that story without making it just plain silly....which it was.

I took it more as an homage to those films, which were all pretty cheesy.  Maybe that's why it didn't bug me. :-\\\\
