In my part of Louisiana "fixing to" is said "fixin to" dropping the g, We also say "ax" instead of ask and "I'm telling you" e.g. We went to the show and it was so funny, I'm telling you, that I laughed until I cried (literally)
Most of the words/saying that annoy people here I enjoy, they remind me of my husband who is very English and very West Country. So he sits on a settee, has tea and later on supper, says ta when he is thanking me and tells people, when asked, that he is from Plymouf.

My problem is when I don't know what is meant by a saying. "Huh" or "you want to say that again?" are my words of choice for the past 2 years.
