Ice machines
« on: July 28, 2008, 06:24:40 PM »
So I drink lots of ice in everything, iced tea, iced coffee, iced water and now that I think about it, I really wish that I had gotten a fridge with an ice maker when I did my kitchen over 2 years ago. So now I am thinking that I want one of those portable ice makers...

Does anyone have one, ever use one etc?
I am looking at one like this...

They cost under £100 and I think I would use it...what do you think?

I would use the shi* out of that thing.  I buy 2 bags of ice from Tesco's a week which are about a pound each and would probably save a lot of money using one of these things.  I hope someone replies and says they've owned one!

Right my friend, I am going to buy one. If you buy 2 bags of ice a week, this is totally worthwhile for you!!!

Okay, let me know what you think because I would love one of those but I need to have hard evidence before I can convince the husband we have the need AND the space for one:-)

My plan is thus...I am going to buy it (in the next week or two) set it up in the kitchen, let it run for 24 hours, and then clean it, pop it into the garage for storage. They aren't that expensive, you can get them for about £70 on ebay...but I can't find any reviews on them. Oy vey, I want one.

THey seem to have come down a lot in price... i remember seeing them for over £200 not that long ago.
It'd be brilliant to have one, but i just stick with making ice in trays and ice cube bags.

I would love to have one.  I just don't have the counter space and it would take some convincing of my DH to spend that much on ice.  He just doesn't get it's value!

I. Want. One.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

The beauty of this is, I don't need to convince my husband! I can buy it myself!

My husband would go through too much whiskey if we owned one of those.
May I can get one and hide it in the garage.

These ice cube bags aren't a bad alternative if you don't have a lot of space for trays in your freezer. Plus, they're cheap!

I hate ice cube bags!!! Hate hate hate hate hate hate hate them!
Nothing worse than opening the drawer in your freezer and finding out one of them has leaked, plastic bits in your drinks! I hate them!!
I think I am going to buy a machine tonight...
Will let you all know!
