We met in Tokyo through friends when we both lived in Japan.

Last year we moved to Thailand, got our first apartment together, got jobs with the same employer (!), didn't end up killing each other, got married, and decided to move to the UK to settle down.

London, here we come!

Isn't a garbage plate a Rochester thing?  Sorry if it sounds like minor semantics to people, but I doubt you'd find a garbage plate easily in Buffalo.  Maybe it has spread there, but someone asking for one might get a miffed response from someone who still practices the Rochester ("Crotchfester") and Buffalo ("Barfalo") rivalry.  ;)  Not most people, because Buffalonians are pretty friendly, but some might take offence.

I don't know about Puppy chow, but the name sounds a bit gross.  I am a pretty adventurous eater, and even after it's been explained, I am pulling a face still.  Are they calling the people who eat it "puppies"?  Like kids?  Does it look like puppy chow? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Did you know that they started selling crescent rolls in the tube? I found them at Tesco around Thanksgiving, and have been buying them constantly since! I think it might be Jus-Roll brand.

Clicked! :D Thanks for the heads up on that!

Now I am craving puppy chow after reading this thread. ;) I might have to find a recipe and make some soon. I left all my recipes at mom's. With shipping costs being what they are we've been shoving as much as we can into suitcases each time we come over, and my recipe box is on the list to bring back next visit.

I born in Buffalo and lived there until I was like 2, then we moved out of state. My family is from upstate NY, mostly Rochester. Never have I heard of a garbage plate while in Rochester. I only ever heard of it while with a boyfriend who was from Buffalo while we were visiting his family in Buffalo. He introduced me to the concept. He was intent on showing all of Buffalo's local delicacies if you will. So I thought it was from Buffalo. Perhaps not originally.

I have a major sweet tooth but don't love peanut butter enough that this tempts me. I go through phases though so maybe one day.

Right now I crave green tea kit kats.
