Equest- When are you thinking of moving?
My pets will be eligible to go in December, assuming they pass their blood test that's getting done on Friday. (They should, they're already on a 3yr vaccine from Nov 08, and they got new 1yr vaccines 2 weeks ago, too.)
I was originally hoping I could move in Dec/Jan, since I could sell my house, sell the rest of my belongings, and come up with my baseline savings that I want before I move (~$30,000, eep). However, selling the house is not looking likely, so that might push me back a bit.

I'm hoping to still get $20,000 from selling my horse-related stuff, and possibly another $5,000 from selling the rest of my belongings (car, furniture, etc), but that leaves $5,000+ to make up myself.
So..it depends on when that happens. Those assumptions are also based on my moving over without any job prospects and assuming I'll have expenses related to a £30,000/yr salary. If I were lucky enough to have interviews lined up for salaries higher than £30,000, or even a job offer (unlikely, but would be awesome), or if the market picks up enough that I could put selling my house back on the table, I might be able to move sooner.
At the moment, I'm optimistically shooting for Jan-Mar move time, probably. I'm still debating whether I also want to factor in a couple of months living with my parents (cheap) so that I can hopefully get some online business projects up and running (which, if they do well, would allow me more flexibility once I move).
So...we'll see. I'm sick of NC, so I'd rather move sooner, but there are a lot of loose ends to tie up first, unfortunately. (Not the least of which is getting official citizenship and a passport, which will probably take until Oct/Nov as it is.)
EQ, that's a really good idea about the post its...may have to give that a try. Last weekend I sold a bunch of my daughters stuff to a second hand store and then dropped some off at Goodwill. Still more to do though.
Thanks, I stole it from a meeting we have regularly at work...blue are "significant events", red is "what could be improved", and green is "what went well". The meeting is usually pretty boring, but at least the idea is cool!

How do you find second-hand stores to sell your stuff to? I would be interested in selling books that way...right now I'm selling them one-by-one online, but that's not very efficient (though I have made $40 so far, woo!).
