Bessie is in The Doctor Who Experience in Blackpool...a truly fantastic place to go. I geeked around it for hours last summer (whilst Dan looked horrified but indulgent)...

Vicky

I never thought I'd say this, but I really want to go to Blackpool!  That sounds like loads of fun.  *drool*

Ok, I am totally not a big Doctor Who fan.  I've watched it on and off, and until fairly recently I didn't realise there was more than one Doctor.  I thought Tom Baker was the only one.  It seems a little odd that I married a Dr. Who fanboy.  It grew on me a bit, and I can say that I loved Tennant as the doctor, especially when Catherine Tate was his companion.

Mr. A is a little shocked by this choice of doctors.  He was convinced they were going to choose Paterson Joseph.  I am sure after a series or so, the guy they did choose will have grown on him.  But WTF is up with his hair?

Anyway, now that I have been forced to watch tons of Doctor Who, I can say my favourite doctor is probably David Tennant (I also like the the production values) but my favourite actor who played a doctor is Paul McGann.  I really wish they had used him more.

I was out with a bunch of Whovians last night at the monthly get together of the London branch of DWAS.  And I have a massive hangover and didn't get in til 2, just to show they are not all saddos.  8) Anyway, they were a little nonplussed.  Most expected Patterson Joseph, but seem to think this guy will be good.  Someone pointed out that they are going to lose a previously large demographic, namely women in their 30's, who might have watched because of the attraction of Ecclestone and Tennant, but who won't feel able to lech after Matt Smith in quite the same way.

I think that Patterson Joseph's character on Survivors was shot, and looks to be at least gravely injured helped to fuel the rumours around him.  Now I am wondering if there will be some deus ex machina to save him.  They really can't afford to lose him without losing most of the acting talent that show possesses.  Sure, Naj and his fake father/brother will still be around, but they can't carry all of them.

Vicky, I wonder if that's the thing Mr. A keeps trying to get me to go to, but I forget every month.  Writers?  ETA: Mr. A says it's not the same thing, although I guess some people of the writers' group are in DWAS.

So jealous!!!  It's one thing I love about living here... people have actually heard of one of my favourite shows of all time!!  Everyone where I grew up just looked at me like I was crazy when I tried to talk about it.   :-X

Yay! New episodes!

I had a Doctor Who dream last night. ALL the Doctors were there! My computer was broken and I needed the Doctor to fix it with their sonic screw driver.

Did you all see the new companion? Ex-Bionic Woman?  I wasn't impressed with her acting on the show but she does have pretty eyes.  ;)

My dream was odd.

I'm not sure it's a spoiler if it's been on the cover of the Radio Times(and everything else for the past two weeks.)

It is if you have moved heaven and earth to avoid the Radio Times and all media coverage, as I always do when a new series or special is imminent.

Sorry Vicky! It was one two of my home pages the other day! Didn't know it was a spoiler. I was just impressed I knew who she was. :)  My lips (fingers?) are sealed from now on.

I hope this episode is better than the Xmas one.

Then you probably shouldn't have clicked on the Dr. Who thread.

Unfortunately this isn't a no spoilers thread and that one has been hyped all over the media.

That's okay, not your fault.  ;D

We've had a spoilers policy in the past of either heading the thread *SPOILERS* in big letters or posting spoilers in white text.  But this was only a one off, and because of the subject matter there was no real need to have that policy.  I think saying that I just shouldn't click on a Doctor Who thread which up until now has been spoiler free is a bit ridiculous, but it won't be an issue for a while...until stuff from the new series starts leaking.

And I am totally anal about spoilers.  So just because something is 'hyped all over the media' it still means I probably have managed to avoid it.

I am going to watch the special tomorrow morning.  VERY excited, I've heard loads of good things.

Um, no it's not ridiculous.  You've gone out of your way to avoid any mention of Dr. Who for at least two weeks.  It's a decision you made.  And this isn't a 'spoiler'.  It's been everywhere.  It's something they've used to pull people in.  It's been on magazine covers, in the paper and all over BBC1.  It's not the ending or a well kept secret.  It's therefore your responsibility to avoid ALL things Dr. Who.  Which includes threads on UKY and not be annoyed with people for posting something that most people already know.

This is not a spoiler thread.  Anyone wishing to start a no spoiler thread is welcome to do so, and they are also welcome to PM mods to discuss which threads have spoilers in them or to start a discussion about it.

We have several programs where the spoiler discussion has come up and we've always dealt with it well I think.  We can have a no spoiler policy if people want but if there isn't one or if it's past the spoiler 'deadline' then the forum member takes responsibility.
