I've had one hangover in my almost 30 years. I think I just avoid them because I always have a lot of water/squash/juice before bed, when I wake up in the night, and when I get up in the morning.

If I'm at all groggy, I down a litre of apple or orange juice and I'm good to go. Then I just carry on as normal, though with a bit less coffee.

It's all about the hydration and blood sugar.

I agree with the Bloody Mary idea. But B6 before bed is helpful too. When I was in the US, I needed to have 2 Jack in the Box tacos and a diet coke to make it through a hung-over day at work.  :P

OMG  I am so craving Jack in the Box Taco's now!  ugh!  Don't know what in the meat and don't care...such great bad food and yes hangover cure.

Anything with electrolytes - sports drinks, Gatorade (if you can get it, I didn't have to explore that option while in England), even Pedialyte...and it should be at room temp, to avoid shocking the stomach. Nothing like taking a huge chug from something that should help you and having your already abused stomach decide it's not going to play ball anymore!

You get hungover because alcohol dehydrates you. (You know, once you "break the seal", so to speak, you're in the loo just about once for every drink you have?) You lose a lot of things your body needs, like salt, potassium, calcium, etc....so any sport drink should set you right after about an hour or so. Don't forget to allow it time to get back into your blood once you've drank it; nothing is instant!

A handful of ibuprofen or paracetemol should help also, for the painful brain-banging that comes with the really great hangovers.  ;) (Maybe not a handful, but you get my drift...) Just don't take them *while* you're drinking....when mixed with alcohol, pain relievers can cause liver damage up to and including liver failure. Talk about a rough night out!

(On a side note, drinking quality booze helps as well. The vodka in a plastic jug with a handle and a poorly glued on label is a DEFINITE no-no!)

Alka-Seltzer the first time you wake up in the morning to go wee.

I take some Alka-Seltzer (the cherry kind isn't too bad).  Alka-Seltzer is great because it works for the belly ache, the head ache...basically it's one medicine that helps all hangover symptoms.  Force yourself to drink down the whole glass of water (cuz this helps to re-hydrate you also) even if you feel like you're gonna be sick.  Jump in the shower and take a nice, long, hot one.  You will feel soooo much better by the time you get out.  Then go eat you some greasy food!!

A lot of my friends in the states swore by those Pedialyte Popsicles. I never tried them, though. I wonder if they have anything like that here.

Migas and Pepsi Max... in fact, I'm taking that particular cure right now!

Only thing that works really really well for me is Taco Bell.  Which sucks because I moved here when I was 21 so my heavier drinking days have been without my hangover cure.

Now I've just learned to stick with vodka because I don't get big hangovers with it.

I learned not to drink cheap beer.  :P  I mostly get hangovers when I drink red wine, so I try to steer clear of that too. My favorite hangover cure is McDonald's breakfast with regular Coke, not diet.

Back in the day, when I was a young whippersnapper, I used to go on a run till I puked, then drink a litre of watered down Gatorade and was fit as a fiddle.

Nowadays, nothing like Irn Bru and a fry-up or at least a bacon roll with tattie scone.

I'm an advocate of egg & cheese on an everything bagel with some salt and pepper.  If there's one thing I'm missing right now, it's my little hole in the wall bagel shop that I could stumble into the morning after a night out.

Although, I really try to prevent hangovers because I'm a huge baby when I'm hungover.  I usually drink a few glasses of water while watching an hour of tv before I go to sleep.

My prevention plan used to be going to the 24 hour diner a few blocks away after the bar closed and ordering a big greasy diner breakfast.  It's almost as if your body forgets about the booze and instead focuses on trying to keep your arteries from clogging.

Haha... this is so true.  ;D

Usually when I am hungover, I need something starchy - like mashed potatoes or mac and cheese. And a Coke Slurpee... oh man, I miss those soooo much!!!!

Ohh The nights always seem so fun and then the payback is the next morning...
What works for me and I am "old"...
1. Wake up like normal time 8am for me - eat a bagel drink as much water as I can handle
2. Go back to bed for 1 or 2 hours
3. Wake up drink water/Gatorade - take some advil or whatever I can get my hands on
4. Shower and eat CARBS and GREASE - mac/cheese, Greasy Cheese burger, French Fries with Ranch
Usually by noon I am good to go ;-)
Good Luck
*love the name change ;-) Little Miss Priss
