I always thought they were both cold coffee with ice (and cream if you are being bad).  Oh well.

*I hate cold coffee anyway!

mmmmmmm... frappucino! Caramel light (With whip!) is the best. What about Nero Caffe? I thought I had an iced coffee there. Maybe it was more frappucino though. I don't remember. I still have my frequent buyer's card, though. I'm almost up to a free coffee!

If I ever want iced coffee, which is nigh on never in this neck of the woods, I just make it myself.  I buy those ice coffee drinks in Lidl and keep them in the fridge, then whizz them in the blender with ice - add in ice cream and a splash of Bailey's for a real treat!  :D

I've never looked for iced coffee out either. I make my own, too, but mine is much simpler than expat's! I don't like sweet gloopy drinks, so I just make some good black coffee and keep it in the fridge in the summer. When I'm in the mood for iced coffee, I just pour some in a glass, stir in milk and add a lot of ice.

I do the same with the 25 lbs of Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla that we always have laying around the house (those customs agents probably wonders why anyone would want to bring 20 bags of DD coffee anywhere with them) and I use condensed milk in mine. What a treat!

They have iced coffees and iced lattes on the menu at the Sainsbury's coffee shop where we do our shopping. Sheesh, you wouldn't think Starbucks would be so confused.  ???

OMG.  If your house gets broken into and the only thing missing is the coffee remember neither I nor my husband drives so it couldn't be us. ;)

Mine too.  I am a little sorry I introduced him to it.  I remember when there used to be DD in Glasgow, but I can't remember if they served coffee or not.  This was before I was brainwashed, I mean converted, after living in RI.

My husband only drinks decaf though, so if it was him he would be wasy to find.  The guy acting crazy and grumpy.

If the baristas find the concept of those two things together so incomprehensible, have you considered asking for a chai/latte/coffee with a cup of ice on the side? ;D

That is what I usually end up doing - but it's such a waste of a cup!  :P

It DOES happen. My husband can back me up on that!
In the summer, they DO add "iced latte" to the menu, yes... and THEN it isn't a problem as such. But while it is not on the menu - forget it! I just think, maybe, whoever I end up buying from are simply not that bright? I don't know. I'm annoyed everyone else doesn't seem to have this problem... haw.

Awww... I believe you that it happens!!! There isn't even a Starbucks around here, and I haven't popped into our local cafe for a coffee, but I bet they wouldn't know how to do it if I did stop in and ask for one. I agree that just asking for something normally served hot, but with ice, shouldn't sound that strange or be that complicated!  :P

As a former worker in a coffee shop, we made the coffee to be iced stronger than regular coffee.  So I supposed getting an iced anything with espresso would work, but just coffee with ice would not.

I love Vietnamese iced coffee, but they don't use enough ice here.  Oh Pho Grand, how I miss you!

All of these iced coffee ideas sound delicious!  Keep them coming!  Let's just hope we get a cracking summer this year for a proper iced coffee season.

I made a lovely iced coffee as a tribute to this thread. I used a Starbucks pod in my Tassimo machine, let it cool, and put it on tons of ice with a spoonful of condensed milk.

I might have another.... ;D
