Well, I'm trying to get off to a healthier start today, but yeah, if it comes down choosing between chocolate or a cigarette, I will definitely choose the chocolate!
I'm not too worried about gaining weight. I lost some weight before quitting, so that's helpful, and even if I gain it all back, then I can work on losing it again once I get healthier. After the first few weeks, exercise should start to feel like a bit less of a burden, so that will help. Also, I hear that it takes about a year from the time you quit for your metabolism to turn back to normal, so there is always next summer, if the weight refuses to budge before then. I can only imagine how proud I might be on my 35th birthday next year to be smoke free for over a year and healthier than I was on my 25th birthday.
Thanks for all the encouragement. It's amazing how much the tablets are helping me today and I've made it to nearly lunch time, so... wooohoo! Day 1 is always the hardest, and it will just get easier from here.
