Thanks to everyone who replyed.

Found a Notary Office local to me here in Pennsylvania. I'm sure I can get it done there. Anyone know what the fees like to get a 1 passport certified copy? In dollars of course...

In the States it's not expensive.  Just call and ask.

Do you have a notary at the bank you use? I only ask since they might well do it for free--mine was done through Washington Mutual, and since I hold an account with them they were able to notarize it for free, and that was the ID page and a couple visit visa stamp pages as well. It might be worth phoning up the bank and asking them what they charge, if anything, since I think it's fairly common for banks in the US to have notary services.

Right thanks for the replys.

I did not return to USA ironically. My dad was very ill and I was told to return by my lawyer to apply for the Spouse Visa. It's funny how anytime someone says they lost they're passport people automatically think its a front just to get into another country again. Not everyone is the same. Some people do lose they're passports. Happens alot. Doesnt have anything to do with me trying to get into UK that way. I lost my dad and things got lost everywhere when cleaning up the house and donating his things that were pointless to keep. My intention was to apply for this visa before going back, but it just didn't work out like that and I never had my passport scanned. I was aware it would be scanned and I could have been refused entry then, but the immigration officer never looked into it. Surely, that can't be my fault. It would be hers.

People can assume what they want when said that a passports lost, but sometimes maybe it seriously did get lost like in my case. My overstay story is nothing but the truth and thats what I will be doing in my Apology Letter. I dont think this is as much of a problem as some are making it out to be. Home office clearly states the rules regarding overstayers applying for Spousal Visas. I think some are looking into it too much. Sorry  ;)

Also, my refusal notice says nothing regarding deception. Nor would I ever use that or intend on. I know exactly how nasty the end result could be. My husband is in UK, I would just like to settle with him and start a proper life with him. I wouldn't think of doing anything like that to build even bigger barriers between us. That would be silly.

Thanks very much for all the help. I will remember it when applying for this visa next week.  :)

Good luck and I am sure everything will be fine.

On my part I didn't mean to imply that you hadn't lost your passport, only that Immigration Officals hear things like this all the time and are somewhat jaded about it all.

Hi thank you for your replys.

Firstly, I am sorry for the multiple threads. I really should have kept one. Maybe everything can stay on this thread now. I apologize for that again  :-\\\\

I was married in United Kingdom in September 2004. Before CoA came into play I think if I am not wrong? I have a Certifed Copy if Entry of Marriage which was held at a Registry Office in Birmingham. This will be fine, as it is my marriage certificate, am I right?

As to support letter, they are not for financial support. Just a letter from my Sister knowing about our relationship and always there for us in the future... I dont think this is even necessary?? Never needed any financial support from outside or family.

UK Driving License... what I would like to know is is it against the law for visitors to apply for a license when in UK as Visitor??? I never knew about this and never had any problems when applying. Nothing was told to me. It was really easy, and simple. ???

Also, when I was married, I was on a Visitor Visa for 6 months. Sorry forgot to mention that.

Is everything sufficient enough? All in all strong/weak? I know no one can know which way it will go, but opinions can really help! Thanks, this site is great  :)

If they won't do it for free, I think the most I've been charged for a notarization is $5--it was the paperwork I needed to get my birth certificate sent up from CA, but I had to have it notarized, and at the time I was with Wells Fargo so they did it for the $5 which wasn't too bad. It's a thought at least, like Legs Akimbo says, it's usually pretty reasonable here in the States :)

Oh ok thank you.

$5 - can't argue with that. Doesn't matter what it costs. It's gotta be done anyways.

Thanks KittenFish :)

Ditto what bookgrl said. I think what we're trying to point out is that while your series of events was completely random and out of your control, it has the potential to look badly to the ECO.

But, good luck. Let us know what happens :)

I don't know if it's against the law, but think about it from this standpoint - would you go on vacation to another state and apply for a driver's license in that state? Probably not (and the state wouldn't allow you since you wouldn't have proof of living there), which is why some of us scratched our heads about the UK license.

AAA will do it for free if you are a plus member in PA.

Sovereign Bank will do it for free for bank customers, too.

Where in PA are you?

My thought on that is that if you were truly a visitor, you wouldn't need a UK license because your US one would cover you for the entire duration of your visit.  That you have a UK license is proof that you overstayed, but since you're admitting that anyway, the license will do you neither harm nor good.
