This is what I'm thinking.

It really is.  Don't let that be the only reason to not buy one!

Yeah, I seriously did not get the point of having it on there at all.  What - I get status updates from a few people?  Who cares!

I think I'll download the new one today and let you know what I think.  You know, just in case Stacey's on Facebook's payroll. ;) ;D

Thanks!!  I will try to balance my hatred of the interface.  The other con is the cost.  Of the plan, not the phone.  :-\\\\

Is it better for the Touch?  I just feel uncomfortable paying this much...

The iphone is free with the £40/month tariff from O2.  Comparitively, this (as a percentage of your earnings, NOT from a currency exchange perspective) isnt much different to what you'd be charged in the US for a contract.

Alternatively, the iphone is £99 on the £30/month tariff I believe.

Oh sorry, I'm in the US.  So it's pretty expensive, because I think you have to buy the iPhone for $200-$300, then pay the $50/month phone fees, and then the $30/month internet access fees.  Another $5-15 for text messaging. And another bit if you want GPS.  At least that's what I think it is.

I *so* want an iPhone.

Once DH builds up some credit, I think we'll look into it... oh, and once I get a job!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I think my phone bill is $80, which is only $10 more per month than when I had a phone plan before (no data and minimum texting then). I didn't get the GPS since I have one already. I don't talk on the phone much, so I only have the lowest amount of call and text minutes. It cost me a little over $300 for the 16gb phone with a car charger and, case, and warranty (the warranty that comes with it is crap). I love the phone, but prefer the UK prices!

I don't like the Facebook mobile site, so I had been using the full site, but Stacey talked me into the new Facebook app and I like it so far. I don't know how it compares though, because I didn't have the old app.

ETA: I have some new-to-me apps I love!

Holy crap can you guys not get the iPhone on PAYG in the States? My fiance bought me my iPhone outright as a birthday gift, and I get free internet on it for 12 months, and the calls and texts are at the exact same PAYG rate that I had on my old phone. I hardly ever call on my phone, and send a couple texts a day, so £20 usually lasts me well over a month. Even paying the £10/month for internet after the free period is up will still save me money, as I found I send way more emails than texts these days...

Some of my favourite apps are:

Moonlight Lite (free Mahjongg tile game)
Solitaire City Lite (awesome free solitaire game)
TVGuide (UK tv listings)
Tube Status (see which tube lines are currently screwed)
Convertbot (really well done unit conversion app)
Day Tides (tide app with a curve and allows you to mark specific heights, like the point our boat grounds out)

Actually, all of those are free. I think the only apps I ever paid for are Tetris and Sims 3, but both of those have more issues than the free ones above!
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

I think the phone is about $700 without a contract.
