Sara, that's amazing! How did she find out in the end?
I will have to ask BF to remind myself but I believe 2nd GF saw texts on his phone (that old gem!).  Then she confronted him and he admitted it.  The worst bit was that he kept pursuing her and even said he broke up with live-in GF.  Eventually (more soap opera drama), 2nd GF actually called live-in GF and spilled the beans.  They met up for coffee and talked and sorted out everything he had done.  Then they called him to the coffee house and ambushed him. Good times!!  ;D EVEN after all that, he still called 2nd GF but I pretty sure live-in GF did move out and dump him.

1 year ago I was right where I am now (same job, same house) desperately missing the UK and planning a trip back with hubby, hoping it would make him homesick and he'd say we could move back (it worked!  ;D )

5 years ago I was newly married, living in Reading. I was knee deep in paint and wallpaper, redecorating hubby's house to put it on the market. We were also in the midst of applying for hubby's US Visa.

10 years ago I was on assignment in Charleston, SC as a travel nurse, rooming in an apartment with 2 other nurses living the single life but thinking I'd never find "the one"

I'm glad I was never able to see into the future - it would've done my head in!  ;)
May 2005 - Moved to UK on Fiancee Visa
July 2005 - Married UKC
Sep 2005 - Received LLR
July 2006 - Moved to US
May 2024 - Received UK Spousal Visa Entry Clearance

1 year ago, I was feeling like I was going to lose my mind trying to plan a wedding, start the Pet Scheme process, and on top of that writing papers upon papers and reading several texts at a time in preparation for getting my bachelors degree!

5 years ago, I was hopelessly in love with my then boyfriend/now husband. I was an undergrad, wishing for Winter break so I could visit him in England.

10 years ago, I was sixteen, working in my high school newspaper. Was in love for the first time (with a boy who didn't love me back, needless to say it didn't last). I was too young to know just how much I could love. That was just practise.  Little did I know that that great love would be right around the corner... (I met my husband online the following summer  :))

Now, every time I wake up in the morning I am so grateful to finally be at the point I am now. I'm almost home!

1) This time last year, I was...

Super duper single! Trying to come up with a halloween costume and promising myself that "this time next year I'll have lost a lot of weight". Needless to say, all that weight is still on my frame!

2) This time 5 years ago, I was...

Going to the bar every weekend and in the midst of a really awful relationship. ALSO...exactly 5 years ago next month I left a message on my friend's myspace saying I thought her Welsh boyfriend's friend was super cute but "it's too bad he has long hair and lives oh so far away!". I was totally hoping he would message me but he never did. February 15th of this year my friend and her now Welsh husband suggested I message Dylan (the long haired boy that lived oh so far away) and say hi on Facebook. I did. We fell for eachother practically immediately. He came to visit after only 2 months of talking. We are getting married this summer...Oh, and he no longer has long hair but I'd love him just the same if he did!

3) This time 10 years ago, I was...

Looking forward to graduating from Shrewsbury High School in Massachusetts and moving to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma State University.

Haha, more often than not I like short hair but have been quite smitten with long haired fellas in my day! My boyfriend's long hair was quite beautiful when he was younger...I just think short hair suits him much more now :)

Well, it's been nearly a year since we've done this one!  I'm bored so let's see what's what!  :)

1. This Time Last Year I Was...
I was enjoying my new-found freedom.  I had just turned in my dissertation for my MLitt and was feeling all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed for job hunting.  I still don't have a job!  :P

2. This Time 5 Years Ago I Was...
I had just broken up with my first boyfriend ever after 3 years together.  I was a little over a month into being 21 and was taking advantage of that and being single.  Needless to say, both my tolerance for alcohol and my pool playing skills were greatly improved during this time.  :P My best friend and I had a tendency to hustle tables for drinks. It wasn't our fault that men had some misguided notions about women and billiards!  ;)

3. This Time 10 Years Ago I Was...
I was 16 and a proud owner of a new learner's permit.  I was also working at my first job after school, at a gourmet deli.  That job opened my picky-eater self up to a whole world of deliciousness that I'd never tried before.  I also learned how to make the perfect sunny-side up egg.  :)

Okay, who's next?
"It is really a matter of ending this silence and solitude, of breathing and stretching one's arms again."

I think I post the same stuff year after year - lol!  But I'll play.  :)

1. This Time Last Year I Was...

Excitedly planning & counting down to our October holiday in Morocco - which ended up being every bit as fabulous (and even more!) as we hoped it would be.  We flew EasyJet from Manchester into Marrakech & planned the whole thing ourselves with the help of Rough Guide & TripAdvisor.  Stayed in a cool variety of riads & travelled around internally on our own:  from Marrakech up to the High Atlas Mountains near Ouirgane, then to Taroudant, then Agadir, then Essaouira & finally back to Marrakech.  Can't wait to go back again someday!  I can't think of many holidays that will ever top it.  ;D

2. This Time 5 Years Ago I Was...

Excitedly planning & counting down to our October holiday in Andalucia:  Malaga, Granada, Las Alpujarras & the Cabo de Gata Natural Park.  We went to the Alhambra in Granada, hiked in Las Alpujarras & stayed in one of the mountain 'white villages', & finished off the holiday with some fantastic Mediterranean beaches.  8)

3. This Time 10 Years Ago I Was...

Living in Tampa Bay, Florida... My 4-year long term relationship (and engagement) with my boyfriend there was starting to fall apart.  It'd be another 10-11 months before we completely called it quits (after which I ended up meeting DH! so we were still about a year away from knowing each other then).  Oh yeah - also we had to put my mom in a nursing home after an extended illness (of 23 years) & I never went on holiday anywhere.

1. This time last year I was...

Unsuccessfully looking for graduate jobs and wondering what on earth I was going to do with my life - would I be stuck working in retail forever? A week later, I got a phone call from my new employer offering me my current job :). It's been nearly a year since that phone call and it's a bit scary how different my life is now (I've even lived in 4 different towns/cities since last September).

2. This Time 5 Years Ago I Was...

I had recently come back from my first trip to Canada (combined with a trip to the US), I had just attended my best friend's wedding and I was a few weeks away from starting my masters degree at Bristol Uni.

3. This Time 10 Years Ago I Was...

I was 18 years old, had recently passed my driving test and was about 2 weeks away from starting university :). I was also working at Boots for the summer (I'd only been there a few weeks as a temporary sales assistant) - never thought I'd still be working there (on and off) 9 years later in 2010 though!

1. This Time Last Year I Was...
Was in a job that was making me ill because of the stress and decided with my partner that I would quit at Christmas. Best decision ever. Im broke now, but at least have my hair and sanity back.

2. This Time 5 Years Ago I Was...
Living in Dublin and suffering from gallbladder pains (it hurt to wear clothes at one point) in the next 7 days I would be rushed to A&E to have surgery to remove it. I had a 3MM stone and it kept blocking my bile duct. I was talking to DP the other day, saying all the complications associated with it, put a small damper on our short time there.. Maybe one day we'll pack up and move over there again.

3. This Time 10 Years Ago I Was...
24 and living on Long Island at my parents. Working at a decent job and dating a toxic BF. Wishing I was living in the city and being a real adult... Oh the path that life takes us down..

1. This Time Last Year I Was...

in Indiana visiting family, soaking up the heat and sunshine, drinking gallons of root beer. We were there from Aug 25 to Sept 10.

2. This Time 5 Years Ago I Was

living in Indiana, managing a Subway. Hubby was living there on a visa. We were toying with the idea of moving over here, but didn't for a couple more years.

3. This Time 10 Years Ago I Was

in a relationship with Mr. Wrong. We were nearing the end of eight years together, but I was being too stubborn to give up. I'd just signed up at the trivia website where hubby and I first started running into each other without actually talking to each other.

This time last year I was...
Looking forward to my 30th birthday trip to Burgundy and wondering if the boy was ever going to propose. He did on that trip!

This time 5 years ago I was...
Newly moved to one small town in Fife from another, and about to start doing semi-distance with the boy, who was studying in Edinburgh but coming home at weekends.

This time 10 years ago I was...
In the first month of my 3rd year of undergrad. I had spent much of that summer studying in France and had completely fallen in love with this side of the Atlantic. I spent much of 3rd year organising a summer internship at St. Andrews with the person who would become my PhD supervisor. I was also looking forward to my 21st birthday.
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012
FINALLY A CITIZEN! 29/2/2012
