THANKS!  I'm just afraid one night I'm going to have too much wine at dinner and write something sarcastic.   ;D  I nearly did today and that just just a killer coffee/IrnBru combination.

Well, that is one way to get rid of her. ;D

I understand that one...I never really did anything on it until about 2 weeks ago and added my sister and my neice.  I finally put some pictures up and in some boredom actually started to do a few things on it.  One day I decided to put my cousins on as friends.  That was a mistake.  They are "perfect."  They don't curse, take sarcasm, or have any sense of humor.   Now I have to watch what I post...  ::)

I have someone like that on my friends list but I just took him out of my news feed so he doesn't show up on my wall anymore unless he specifically makes a comment on something that I did. That way I didn't have to 'unfriend' him but it takes away his crap and if I really want to see what he's up to then I can go to his page.

Yep, I just hide people from my feed if I get sick of seeing how well they are doing on their farm. :)

LOL.. not you, silly! I meant people who clog up my page with their Mafia Wars stats and stuff. I mean, everyone plays the games, but you know, some people get over the top. :)

I've been hiding people (boy, do I hide people!) but I realised the other day that loads of people still have access to my profile that I really don't know, since in order to add them to the UKY facebook group (Anyone want to maintain that, by the way?  I haven't been on there in months other than when someone wants to join - I'd rather give the maintainer position to someone who actually uses the group!) I had to friend them first.

So anyway....I've just been through my friends and deleted a bunch of people I don't really know.  I have a pretty strict "I need to have met you in person" rule for my LJ, with a few exceptions, and considering that FB started out being a way for me to reconnect with people with whom I went to school and I don't use applications on FB as a general rule, there's no reason not to use the same criteria for FB as I do for LJ.  (Sorry if I've offended anyone!)

Back to the original issue...I tend to agonise over drifting apart from people, and never want to hurt anyone's feelings by defriending them, but at the same time, life's too short, y'know? :)

I wish you could hide the games and such without hiding the entire person. I have a friend who seems to be addicted to vampire wars, but I don't want to hide her totally.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a delete button in real life! Irritating people would just vanish.

I do too.  I never use the game posts and I hide the feeds of the people who use them most.  For some games like Farmville, it's rare that you really need to post an announcement other than to brag or to find a home for the senile cow.  But in a game like Mafia Wars, it puts me at a disadvantage that I don't use wall posts for games (usually).

You can!! When something like, "Marcia just won a bloody neckbite in Vampire Wars" pops up on your wall, the Hide drop-down box should give you the option of hiding Vampire Wars.

I have all those ridiculous games hidden - Mafia Wars, Vampire stuff and all the many many many tedious Farm-related games.

I just deleted one person and instantly got rid of screeds of Mafia Wars posts!  YAY!

You'll probably see loads of Farm posts from me, but it's actually my boss playing it on my behalf cos I couldn't be bothered!

Not me! I've got Farms blocked. You and/or your boss can play away to your/his/her heart's content without worrying about annoying me!  ;D

I am so glad I figured out that hide application option! I came across it by accident one day. What a difference. I don't get why people don't *not* post every game status update it prompts you to do. I usually say "don't post" unless it might be one a fellow farmer could get points from. I know people don't care if I moved up a level!!

I agree! I always click on the SKIP button when I clear a round of Word Twist.
