I Feel Like a Dum@ss!!

The man called my husband from the street and said that I had made a mistake and given him  too much money.

Why did he call your husband?

He just called our home phone and DH answered. He didn't specifically ask to speak to him.

The "American comment" refers to the fact that Americans and Brits have different attitudes toward tipping. (There are many threads about that on UKY. I won't go into details.)

Back on laundry, there's a couple of things I do now to help with the drying:

1.  Run everything through an extra spin cycle
2.  Get one of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8757049/Trail/searchtext%3ECLOTHES+RAIL.htm and hang your wet clothes up on it, spaced apart, and put it either in front of a radiator or over an air vent if you have them.  They seem to dry faster than just on the regular drying racks.
