Not the red ring of death!  :\\\'( As much as I love xbox, those things can be so fragile. My friends have seen the ring on theirs at least five or so times.  ::)

I know. That is the one bad thing about the 360s. They do seem to break easily, although I don't know what I did wrong. I downloaded the new content for DA Origins and then every time I went to play it, it would freeze. Then this morning it simply wouldn't work at all.  Worst part is that Jon is away tonight, so I could have had a whole evening of playtime to myself.

*sob* The red ring of death has hit our home today. Thankfully the warranty is good until September.

My condolences to you and your 360. DH has a fund set up just for break downs and such. He's only had it happen to him once, though. At least the warranty's still good. At least it wasn't the wire thing that went around last year.

You didn't do anything wrong, they're badly designed, class action law suit badly designed.
I can't believe M$ made the same mistakes with the 360 as they did with the original xbox, but on a much bigger scale. Poor! Saying that my PS3 has died as well YLOD AKA Traffic lights of death but Sony were much better at replacing it, I also suspect it was because it was quite a scratched up (second hand) 60 Gig Backward compatible model, I now have a PS3 Slim which is pretty perfect.

I did everything to ensure mine wouldn't RROD, I even went to about 5 shops trying to find a 360 with a certain LOT number which would have a specific chip set (Falcon) and a specific DVD drive to try and ensure it wouldn't break, it lasted a year before it went (if anyone wanted to do this, I use - http://www.360drives.com/list). I made the manager at Argos look at all the ones he had in the back before I'd buy one, he thought I was freaking insane (but was lovely about it and did it!) :)

Another gaming household here too :)  We're mostly MMO gamers (Eve Online, Aion, EQII).  I miss tabletop gaming.  I still have a bag of dice I haven't used since college.

Edit to add that Vampire the Masquerade is coming to an MMO near you!  They guys that did EVE Online are teaming up with White Wolf.  Naturally they're being super secretive about it, but I can see the potential.

Oooo. That sounds like fun! But, what's an MMO? And how would I play it with other people? Currently living in the Capitol Wasteland with DH. :D Kinda lost touch with the RPG side of things.  :/

MMOs are "Massively Multiplayer Online" games.  There's no real trick to getting in one.  You'd just need a decent PC and a fairly good internet connection (sometimes wireless can make things choppy).  As for playing it with people you know, as long as they all have the game, you can play with them.  Lots of people use programs like Ventrilo for voice communication while playing.  Some games have built-in voice programs, but usually they're crap.  World of Warcraft is a nice easy game to start with.  Aion is fun (more PvP or "player vs. player") oriented.  I prefer the immersion of EQII, but it's a hard game to jump into since it's been out forever.  I'm looking forward to seeing what the EVE team does with the White Wolf IP.  It could be really cool.

I shall have to google it. Or, is there a link with info? I will have to admit, am a bit wary about having to subscribe, though. Don't know why. I know it's probably just the same as XBL and all, but, still. It just puts me off a tiny bit. It's probably just me, though.

A lot of the asian MMOs are "free."  In other words, you can download and play the game for free, but you will have to pay money for the perks (high level zones, cool gear, etc.).  Lots of people prefer this method around the world, but for whatever reason it's never caught on in the west.  I prefer subscription games myself, because it's easier to manage financially (if I had to pay for the perks then I'd end up poor in real life).  Most games run between $10-15 a month, and they'll give you a free trial download so you can check it out.

I want a DS solely for Professor Leyton, and I love those Big Fish hidden object games when I'm procrastinating!

Professor Leyton was OK, but didn't live up to the hype for me. I do loooooove the Big Fish HOGs, though! They're brilliant and I'm more than a little addicted. I think I have a good dozen of them stored up and ready to play right now!

I like mostly PnC games, and sign on to Lazylaces for updates nearly every day. I think my favourites are the Minoto games, if for no other reason than the hysterically funny Japanese translations.

I'm not into all those FB farming games, but I play so much WordTwist on FB that I now dream about it.  :P

I forgot about the joys of lazylaces! That's a UP for me now! Thank you!  :-*

Seriously, those Big Fish games are so great (and addictive  :)).  I recently played this one called Drawn, I think, and it was unlike any other HOGs that I've played.  Just fantastic!

We're a gaming household, although DH plays more than I do at the moment.  I went to an all girl's private HS and made loads of friends that are gamers and still are, as well as DHs friends are big into games and that's the group I would play WoW with.  I prefer RPGs, but also used to be really heavily into the Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil series.

Like Mrslit I used to play WoW with a group of friends until the group dissipated.  I still play on and off, but it's been more off of late.  The thing that sucks with WoW is that it's broken down into regions, otherwise I'd play more as my Aunt and cousins all play on the US server and I'm on the UK server (and I refuse to pay for Character migration).   :-[
