Not that it matters at all, but I do think they lowballed her weight a little bit.  She's got muscle and curves, so I think she's a little heavier than that.  I thought those pictures were a good idea, and good on her for doing it.  I root for Britney, I don't know why.

Remember the Demi Moore picture not too long ago (who's got a rocking body anyway) where they actually airbrushed out a chunk of hip?  I'll have to find the link on Jezebel, but you can clearly tell in the picture, they airbrushed so that if you would follow the line of her body underneath the clothing, it wasn't going to meet up.  Crazytown.

And yeah, I know, we should all love ourselves just as we are, but I still gotta say..your outward appearance can dictate so much as to how you feel about yourself, I won't judge people for doing it.   I don't think I'd ever do a face lift or lipo or anything, but I'm not above having some sort of breast work after (well when/if) I have children.  They are sort of the bane of my existence now, although not large enough to be insurance covered for reduction, but I would like to have them reduced after I have children.

Yeah, maybe they meant 130 not 103!

When I was in my 20's I joined Nutri-System ("We succeed where diets fail you"  remember that?) because I had put on quite a bit of weight throughout college and was really having trouble losing (had not a clue about true healthy eating at the time)

So at 5' 2" with a medium (I think) frame they said I was supposed to weigh 119 lbs.  These were the days before BMI was used to calculate what you should weigh.  BMI for women at least, seems to be much more generous that the older ways of calculating.  Well I got down to about 125 lbs and believe me I looked very slim and petite (not anorexic though).

I ended up staying with the program (and shelling out the bucks for more than a few months extra) to get down to 119, but even with 1200 calories a day and loads of walking and stationery bike riding I just could not do it.  My body did not want to be that thin ever again, and honestly I started to resent being on the program and thought the unrealistic weight goal (for me anyway) was just a money-making ruse for them, so I left the program at a healthy and slim 125 lbs.

I felt like they were trying to make me feel I had failed for leaving before my goal weight was reached.  Thank goodness at the time I was emotionally healthy and savvy enough to know this was certainly not the case!

I'm glad they are covering your surgery, MeShell. I have some problems with my complexion and have been referred to a dermatologist, and if they offer my IPL or other treatment on the NHS, I'll be a happy lady. Yes, its cosmetic, but it does make me feel bad about myself and I think about it every single day. It may not be a big deal to some other people, but I'm only 33 and having my face covered with patches of brown skin and huge masses of broken capillaries really sucks, as well as the comments a few people have made thinking I have something on my face. All of this greatly effects my health and well-being and quality of life, even if it isn't physically painful or causing any serious health problems in of itself. So I understand why they will do some things in special circumstances.

Good luck Jewlz
I hope you get results and they will do what you would like to have done!!!!

I think celebrity publicists lie about celebrities' weights, so that people get distorted ideas about what x pounds really looks like.

If Britney is really 103 pounds and looks like that, then it stands to reason that someone who weighs 130 pounds and is the same height is fat.

I agree completely.  I was reading a book and the character was quoted as being 5'9'' and 90 pounds.  That would be a BMI of 13.3 and you would most certainly be dead.

God, I'm only 5'2", but I haven't been 90lbs since I was about 12 or 13 years old  :o!

I hope it was at least a book about anorexia, otherwise I'd just be mad!  >:(

There definitely are some shorter people (5'4" isn't very tall) who look good at 100 pounds or so, but I think they tend to be smaller-framed people. A healthy or attractive weight for someone depends a lot on bone structure, I think. Not saying I'm one of those "I'm just big boned" sort of people, but really, it's kind of true. I look weird if I weigh 100 pounds and I'm only 5 feet tall. My rib cage sticks out too far and I look like I have an extra set of boobs or something. It's odd.

Its amazing, growing up as a very fat kid, I was huge compared to everyone and I had such trouble finding clothes to fit me.  I look at the photos and compared to kids these days, I would be considered on the small side.
I worry for the kids these days who are much bigger than I was- because they're going to end up in a very bad place  :-\\\\

However, I also know that being obese isn't because I'm lazy- far from it- I'm going a million miles an hour all day long- However, I am sitting all day in front of a computer and running off to do other things at night, which usually involve sitting.  I eat healthy, but too big of portions. I drink far too much.   I really struggle with depression (not weight related, but chemistry related) and that translates into stress-eating and emotional eating.  I have been in constant, severe pain for almost 2 years and its caused a 3+ stone weight gain because I have trouble moving some days.  Thank goodness for pain meds!!

I am working towards getting smaller - for the sheer fact that I cannot afford a new wardrobe and I want the NHS to take my pain seriously.

Awww, Hugs to you Laura. It's hard to care about anything at all when you don't feel well or are in constant pain, but hang in there and just do the best you can each day. It will add up over time.
