Barring that you could look for other suitable accommodation. Or another option: do you have any other rooms in your home (living room or reception rooms) that could be used as a bedroom...anything that is a minimum of 50 sq ft? If so hire someone to come in and do a survey of your home (measuring the rooms) and write a letter detailing the dimensions of each room of the home. This may meet the requirement since any room 50 sq ft or larger can be used as a room for Accommodation purposes.

Would you reapply at that point or just send it back to them?

Bekicos - I feel for you.  Best wishes to you and your family.

WebyJ - thank you for the information.  I wish we had found this forum before we applied.

gilean - I was really mad when I learned about the priority service, too.  I wish they could have at least notified those of us who are affected and either gave us the option to upgrade or maybe just somehow ensured that our applications wouldn't be shunted back because of a service that wasn't available when we applied.  <this is me venting...>

This is a crazy-making process.  I'm really hoping we did OK on our application.  I did include my CV and a recommendation from my employer but we are planning to stay with my in-laws when we first arrive.  How do people arrange accommodation when you don't know when you'll be there?  This seemed like the only way we could do it.  They have a 2 bedroom apartment with a sitting room (I think it's bigger than 50 sq ft).  We put on the app that they had a 3 room flat with a kitchen and bathroom.  We also have a small son (almost 4).

Anyway, thanks, everyone for sharing.

It depends really. If there is additional rooms in the home that could be used as a bedroom because of their size it might be an idea to try for an Administrative Review beause the situation really hasn't changed, they'd be living in the same place just providing more information regarding the current accommodation is all. Plus, the applicant in this case does have a considerable amount of savings, I'm just wondering if proof of that was provided and if it was in the form of actual money in the bank or if it was tied up in retirement funds, stocks, bonds etc, because only cash savings (immediately liquid) will only be used to meet the requirement.

Most couples moving over at one time stay with relatives until they can find their own place. Which is perfectly acceptable. To prove adeqate accommodation you would need a letter from your inlaws stating who lives there now, how many rooms are in the home, and if they rent or own. If they rent they need to get a letter from their landlord stating that it is acceptable with them that you live in the residence, if they own the home then you need their most recent mortgage statement or their deed if it's paid off OR (in lieu of the deed) the print out from the Land Registry website.

I didn't include anything about my own employment, though I did say that I will be seeking employment upon my arrival, and listed my specific industry/career path.

I'm hoping this isn't part of the delay in my processing - well, what I see as a delay, since I am on Day 16 of Priority.

Seems LA is the consulate that is slowing down a bit now.  Are they still doing student visas?  Or am I just to assume my app is undergoing extra investigation?  Trying to stay calm .....  :-\\\\

I wouldn't worry about it. CV's only help in situations where Maintenance might be an issue (ie the sponsors only income is from benefits).

As for your application, LA is the slowest of the three Consulates this time last year they were taking 80-100 days to process non expedited applications and for the priority system at this point I'm fairly certain they're trying to clear the backlog of Settlement applications that have piled up because of the T4's...I wouldn't worry just yet.  ;)

I'm still worried because I didn't get an email confirming receipt of my application; they should really have a better workflow than what they've got.

You have your proof of delivery...emails do get missed from time to time, check your spam folder and if you have it set to auto delete then turn that option off. But I really wouldn't worry about it.
