When moving to the UK on a Fiancee Visa can I purchase a one-way plane ticket OR do I have to purchase a round trip ticket stating that I'm coming back in the 6 month time frame???

I don't think you can buy tickets that far in advance, you shouldn't anyways. You don't need to return from your fiance visa, you can apply for the next one in the UK (by mail or in person, correct me if I'm wrong).

You don't have to come back.  You can apply for FLR(M) within the UK.

I was checking out flights and actually purchasing a round-trip ticket is MUCH less than purchasing a one-way ticket...

I wonder if customs would have a problem with that...i would just not return on the flight.  You can get flights that return around 6 months later.  hmmm   ???

Yeah, that was the case for me too.  I just purchased a round-trip ticket and I don't plan on using the return bit.

Just be honest and say you got a great deal as opposed to a one-way ticket. IF they ask. Even when I was first in the UK they didn't ask for my return ticket papers, so it will probably not be brought up at all. You don't need to leave, and even if you leave you are allowed to do so.

I want to know why every flight I see is either to Dublin or a lay-over. I hated spending a whole night in an airport being half-drowsy and half-paranoid. There were a lot of weird looking people in the airport. I miss direct flights from the Dallas Airport to Heathrow. :(

I think I can finally get the ball rolling on this Settlement Visa come this weekend!! My husband is supposed to be sending everything on his end to me through FedEx on Friday for Next day delivery (however I asked him to try to send it Thursday instead because I don't know if FedEx delivers on Saturday's). My friend is coming over on Sunday so he can put in his credit card info (as the money was sent to his paypal, so basically he was helping me out since I closed my paypal account last year and I needed someone I trust that still had one running and already connected to their bank account) after I finish the Visa and I can then schedule my Biometrics appointment. I am really hoping i can make it for Monday! Does anyone know if I will be able to make it for that soon after I fill out my application?

Another thing I came across that I am worried about is that I need to provide "Evidence of how your trip is to be funded", I take it they mean my plane ticket back to the UK. How would I show this as I can't purchase the ticket until I know when I can leave? Also I have no credit card, or bank account, the reason my husband had to send me the money through my friends Paypal. If I don't include this information is my Visa going to be denied? I just want to triple check that I have everything as I don't have the money to do this all over again! Here is the list from what I got from the UK Border Agency Settlement Form (VAF4A Dec 2008) Please let me know if I'm missing anything!!

All Applicants;
A valid Passport
One Passport sized color photograph
The appropriate fee
Previous Passports (I can't submit my previous because I had it shredded as soon as I got my new one  :-[ )
Birth Certificate

Personal Details;
Marriage Certificate

Settlement;
Evidence of Spouses current employment
Evidence of Spouses total monthly income from all sources
Evidence of the accommodation that you intend to occupy (rental agreement)
Evidence between you and your sponsor (I'm only including screen shots of all the messages sent between me and my husband from when I left the UK in May till now since we're already married and that is pretty much the only way we've been contacting each other except facebook chat and me calling through phone cards, which will not show his number)

All I sent was mine and my husbands pay stubs and bank statements from the last few months, to show that we have ongoing funds available to us. It must have sufficed, because my visa was approved today. I hope that helps. Good luck!

Regarding biometrics appointments, in my experience, how soon you can get an appointment depends on the center.  When I applied, if I opted to use the center closest to me, I would have been waiting a bit more than 3 weeks for the earliest available appointment.  Instead, I selected another center and got an appointment in a few business days (though I had to drive about 1.5 hours to get there).

Oh wow, no I can't do 3 weeks :( The only one it lists in Ohio is in Cincinnati, so that is the one I have to go to. I guess i'll just have to pray I can get it within the next couple days if not the next!  :-\\\\

Thanks everyone!

I actually missed the time for one appointment because my payment messed up the first time. I've done biometrics before so I knew my local (what a joke, 2 hours away is not local!!) center and they let me get my fingerprints early. It's a really slow place with hardly anyone ever getting fingerprints done there, so they had no problem with squeezing me in.

The booking area of the application is dishonest and just books 3 days ahead of time by default (for my state). I selected every office in my state and it gave me the same dates and times open. They don't have any advertised numbers locally, so I risked going, and it paid off.

What if you are unemployed? I got laid off last month so I don't have any source of income other than my savings and unemployment benefits that will start at the end of October if I don't find a job first. I will be applying for my visa in the next couple of weeks and was doing just fine but now I am getting nervous.

This might be a silly questions but when I apply for my son's visa, he is 14, does he sign his application or do I sign it for him?

Thanks and good luck to everybody who is waiting and congrats to the ones with visa in hand :)
