Immigration is a problem
« on: July 26, 2010, 07:18:15 PM »
Immigration is a problem in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Without a doubt (Please note: This is not aimed specifically at Americans but the whole spectrum of immigrants in the UK and I am fully aware that different immigrants all have different situations)

Some believe that there’s an attitude, a feeling, a belief that immigrants cause problems. This isn’t new, far from it, immigrants are foreign and well, quite simply different from the usual- in basic terms that’s a fact.  And when things go ‘wrong’, ‘badly’, or just basically tit’s up they’re an easy target- history proves it. Take The Great Fire of London for example, both the French and Dutch were persecuted because of the unsupported belief that these people, these ‘foreigners’ caused such devastation through malicious intent. It was totally untrue, but still the mindset remained and persecution continued.

I understand. I’m British and hold this belief (to an extent) sadly.

Immigration is fantastic opportunity to allow different cultures, faiths, beliefs...whatever to flow through not only the UK but the world. But this needs to be strict. Very strict. I understand issues surrounding being a European Union (EU) member state allows ‘open borders’ and a number of EU countries have high levels of British immigrants. But this isn’t the issue at question here.

If you go into anywhere in the UK you will see immigrants. SOME, who are gain access into the country through one method or another, quite simply abuse the system. It’s wrong. Why should British people’s taxes be used to support immigrants? People who have never before ‘paid into the system’ and quite simply never plan too. MANY immigrants come into the country and want to work hard and pay into the tax system. People who do not wish to do this: ARE NOT WELCOME, in my opinion of course.

Then you find people complaining, trying to influence certain situations within the UK. The feeling is, I believe, that if you are not happy then: GO HOME.  An example of this was a thread I read on this website basically ‘moaning/complaining’ about the British drink culture. If this, along with other ‘complaints’ you have makes your life in the UK so unbearable, then quite simply: GO HOME. As a resident you have your full right to say what you feel, be free and open about your views but don’t moan and complain in such a manner. It’s not welcome.

As I have explained previously, immigration is a fantastic opportunity for different cultures from around the world to mix, but this privilege should be for a small minority not a large majority. Migrants should benefit the country and not ask support from the state- FULL STOP.

Media influences people. It influences me, you, and the person next door. The media generalises people into groups- the good and the bad, the right and the wrong, the British and the immigrants. Being born and bred here, this is the attitude, feeling and belief at the moment as I understand it. It’s been here for some time and I don’t think it’s going anytime soon. I think it’s what a number of people are feeling right now- discontent, not so much with immigrants but policy.

I am neither racist, nor xenophobic and don’t wish this post to be commented on in a manner that would suggest otherwise as this would be both unfair and wholly untrue.

Either you are a troll who made an account just to post this or you are a regular poster who is too scared to post under your normal user name.  Which is it?   ;D

Hello Hello....
It is requested that new members introduce themselves on the welcome wagon. I hope you take the time to make this introduction.
It is interesting to read your opinion. I am glad you feel comfortable to view your thoughts. I do think it is worth mentioning that it isn't only immigrants who complain at times about a culture. It is also true that just because people complain about one part of something doesn't mean that they don't value a lot of things in their new home.
Just as I am sure that while you complain about some things people post on this forum you must value other parts of the forum or you wouldn't have spent your time joining us.

It doesn't sound like anyone from this board in terms of writing or tone to me.

As for this...

that is one of the problems with posting on the internet.  You can't control what others think or write about you.   ;)

Strangely enough, my instinct was to post a *giggle.* If this particular member makes another post (and by another post, I mean something not tied to some type of immigrant rant), I'll die of shock.  ;D

I'm just impressed at the sheer amount of time it must have taken to type out. I even googled it to see if it was taken from another site, but no, some thinks so highly of us that they will spend time attempting to get our danders' up.

Me, I've used it as an excuse to have a cup of low-fat Horlicks. To make myself feel  better.  ;D

To tell us to go home apparently!  ;D  Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure I am home!  I mean, if I'm not, I'm in a stranger's flat wearing his/her pajamas!  :P  Hmmmm, could be problematic...

Ha. I'm also in my Pj's! Imagine us, an army of immigrants, raising our middle fingers to the sky in response...while lounging in PJs.
Quite a fearful lot, aren't we?  ;D
