This is a not-very-good photo of the decorations at the Halloween Supper I went to on Saturday night. It was at the private library I belong to (like a club that's also a library). The building is gorgeous and was a house up until about 150 years ago when the family sold it and the library took up residence. Everyone dressed up to the nines and we had canapes, liberal quantities of mulled wine, venison stew, wild mushroom cassoulet, homemade walnut bread, caramelised pears with clotted cream, ginger biscuits and chilli truffles. All of it was homemade and all of it was fabulous. After the meal, we were entertained by some women who told VERY SCARY ghost stories.
