Krispy Kreme
« on: October 15, 2010, 04:30:46 PM »
Who loves Krispy Kreme?!

I went with my friend to check out the new Krispy Kreme at Bristol Avon Meads.  I'm usually a regular glazed krispy kreme eater, but the lemon meringue donuts are to die for!

It might seem silly to travel 30 miles for a donut.  It was even sillier to have to return a few hours later because I forgot my camera in the restaurant.  :-[

The good news was that when we got there the second time, not only had the nice manager found and saved my camera for me, but the HOT NOW sign was on (they were cleaning the aparatus the first time we went).  We were each given a regular glazed donut straight off the conveyor.  For a moment I was transported back to Atlanta and it was bliss.   [smiley=heart.gif]  Why are the hot ones so much better?

Interesting, I wouldn't have taken you for a KK fan.  I'd have thought you'd be Dunkin' all the way.  ;)

I can't stand Krispy Kremes, but anyone who's a fan and either lives in or is visiting London might or might not know there's a KK stand tucked away in Victoria Station.  It's easy to miss at the moment.  It's downstairs in the main area, but it's sort of around a corner if you are getting off tracks 9-12 (I think that's the range.  I know 9 is in there).

EDIT:  I guess it's adjacent to track 7...so I don't think I was off on my area of the station:

Yes, there's one at Paddington too!  :)

But sadly they don't have them HOT NOW.  Only the real bakeries have that.

I would leave my belongings on purpose just to go back for a Hot Now glazed donut! Mmm...

There's a kiosk at Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet in Cheshire. HG took myself and another friend there for a day out-and we went to Costco as well! The donuts were very nice, as always. :D

Whenever we happened to be going up the M6 we stop at Lymm Services and get a few from the case that they have there...DH thought I was crazy when I spent £7 on 4 donuts, but once he tasted them I was forgiven  ;).

When I lived in Nor Cali I used to drive down to Chico 70 miles from where I lived to get a dozen of the glazed fresh from the fryer! Now that's a bit crazy  [smiley=mad.gif]

Does this answer the question?

taken the first time we went to London and I discovered the shop in Paddington Station--the fact that I was having serious pregnancy cravings for them at that point only added to my joy.  I would be in heaven if a Krispy Kreme would open here in Cardiff!

I've only had KK once in my life- and I was hungover- so it actually didn't do it for me...
So I'm not a good judge!

When I was a kid, we used to get these crazy donuts every week from a Mister Donut- my mom knew one of the bakers- all creme filled and crazy.  I could never eat them now, far too sweet!

I quite like a dunkin donut (plain, with the handle!)

There's a really good, non chain donut shop near my parents house, which has awesome donuts

I also don't like donuts in the morning- they have to be a pudding...  I don't like sweet things in the morning...

And that was way off topic, sorry!!!

I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Generally, I only like them when they're hot, and really only the glazed ones -- although this mention of lemon meringue has me intrigued.  I might have to investigate tomorrow.  Field research, and all.  In general, I'm definitely more of a Dunkin Donuts fan(atic).  When I'm back in the US, it is my goal to hit DD once a day, although mainly for coffee and not always donuts.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I went to the KK in Victoria Station last summer when I was in London for 2 months (a bit of home sickness? Nope. Just love doughnuts! :p)

I just found out that if I bring the shirt from the race I'm doing in a couple of week (running race) to the KK in town (Daytona Beach, FL), I get a free dozen doughnuts! Heck yeah! :D

Tin- you're from Atlanta? I took my Scottish bf to the KK on Ponce when he visited. He loved it! We totally went again (made a U-turn in the road!) when he visited this summer.
