It feels like someone has taken a toilet brush to my throat.
Now there's a vivid mental image! :(

Today I am bummed and low because:
1. losing my US driver's license forever (see thread in Expat Life)
2. my hormones are still very WRONG after 14 months and 3 separate "experts" (seeing another tomorrow, on which I'm pinning all my hopes) as the last problem from my transplant. And today my lady parts feel grumpy because of it.
3. The weather isn't helping
4. I've got tons of work to do that must be done today and I have zero motivation to do anything but crawl under a duvet

Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

Sorry to hear so many are under the weather  :(

My IA: DH hasn't seen any suitable property listings: too big, too small, have to walk up a hill, too far from shops, etc. etc. So is now saying we might as well put a downstairs loo in present house and live in the ground floor 3 rooms! I do NOT want to live like that!! ???

My stepmom keeps calling my grandparents "Mom" and "Dad". I think it bugs me partly because she's not my favourite person ever, but also because no one else here is doing it (other than my dad/aunts/uncles who are their children). My aunt/uncle (by marriage) either call then "grandma"/"grandpa" (for the benefit of my small cousins) or by their first names. My dad also calls his MIL (stepmom's mom) by her first name. I guess it just strikes me as sycophant-ish.

Three people all together owe me about one thousand quid. I initially was in no hurry to get it all back, but now I'm just annoyed that I'm still waiting. Why do I feel bad about asking people for my own money back?  ::) I'm still in no hurry, but when you say you're gonna pay me back on Monday, I'm expecting to be repaid. Agh...

That's a lot of money to be waiting for! You shouldn't feel bad for "reminding" them.

My MIL calls V's nan "Mum" - I think it's sweet!

I applied for two jobs in Edinburgh today.  I've just realised that, should I get one of them, I won't even have enough money to commute in for the first week, let alone the first month.  :(

Oh no!  :-[ I hope you feel better again soon. I sometimes have Lemon and Ginger tea or Peppermint and Fennel tea. Have you tried that? It's a small thing, but I found it really does help settle my stomach a bit. Especially the Twinings Digestif blend.

I'm doing a bit better now - the commute really wasn't pleasant and I think I lost a pound or two overnight, which is the last thing I needed, but I haven't had anymore digestive attacks. I'll have to try the Lemon and Ginger tea. I currently use an orange and spice tea from Twinings that can be nice, but not exactly helpful. I really should try peppermint tea, too. Sadly, as a child my mum would give me peppermint-flavoured candies thinking they would calm down my stomach but the sugar only made it worse, so I've been a bit put off by peppermint! I walk right by a Twinings shop every day, though, so I'll have a look for their Digestif blend. Thanks!

My company offers a loan for staff to buy annual rail cards to save money. I'm at a large organisation and I don't know what it's like for other businesses, but if anything comes of your applications, you can always see if they can help you out until you've received your salary.

Thanks, that's good to know that it may be an option.  :) For now I'm going to try not to worry about it, because it's not even like I have an interview for either of these jobs yet, much less have the job!  If worse comes to worst, I might have to visit the bank of Mom & Dad to take out a loan.  It's so annoying being this broke.

I've been sick on and off all winter long. And each time I've known exactly which snotty-nosed sick kids I caught it from.  >:( I've been up coughing all night and I'm exhausted. I just want to sleep.

I'm sat in a hospital waiting room right now and a nurse just came out to say they're currently running 1 hour behind schedule. It's barely 10 so they've only been open for an hour, how can they be that behind already!?

I'm really wishing I'd brought my book and not just the free papers. :( I thought these would be lighter to carry. :(

I have been declined for being added to my husband's bank account.  :\\\'(  It's been nearly 2 years and I still don't have an account! It is so frustrating! And I wasted 2 days of my week off in the bank doing all of that crap. I don't even know why I've been declined, but I think it's because they made me set it up in my maiden name (because that is what my passport is in, even though I brought my marriage license), and all bills and everything are in my married name over here. DH is making me meet him to set up my OWN account somewhere else, but I don't have high hopes for that either. I don't understand what the problem is!

Annoying!  I was added to my husband's account with no problem.  I use his last name on the joint account even though my passport is in my unmarried name.

They wouldn't let me! They said I had to set it up in my maiden name and THEN come back in to change it, which is total BS.

I have two very painful, swollen, infected, pus filled fingers. Very sore. I need to get to Boots or my GP or something ASAP. (I got thorn fragments stuck in them. Thought they were just superficial but they're getting worse. Really worse.) But I am traveling and won't get home until 6pm. At least naproxen has helped the pain and swelling. But not the pus or thorn fragments.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
