Saturday evening the power went out on our boat (uncommon, but not cause for alarm). After 3 hours of constantly tripping the mains breaker and ripping apart the entire wheelhouse since that's where we thought the source of the problem was, my husband worked out that it was actually the inverter. So while we wait for the marine electrician/engineer to ring us back today to arrange a call out (PLEASE let it be fixable and not a £800 replacement!), we have to limit our use of everything 24v since the batteries are only charging off the solar panels instead of also getting topped up by mains (part of the inverter's job).

What this actually means for my day to day life is that everything is dim and dark in the evenings because we only have a few 240v lamps to plug in, and every time we flush the toilets (24v super water-saving macerators), they pull so much from the batteries that the lights dim and the gas alarm thinks there's a power cut and cuts off the hobs and oven. And because most of the kitchen 240v sockets are inverted so the fridge and freezer keep going in case of a mains power cut, these are out of commission so there's extension leads running everywhere and if I want to use the toaster I have to move it over to the freezer to plug it into an extension lead and making a cup of tea involves using the big Dutch kettle on the hob.

It's in the third day of this now and I'm starting to get really cranky, especially about the lights. grrrrrr.

Thanks. I'm feeling a bit better, but the super strong antibiotics (Erythromycin, 2000mg per day!  :o) are seriously jacking up my stomach. I've been on them for a month now and I'm really hating these more than the last ones I was on for three months. The last few weeks, I didn't take the full dose because I couldn't remember to take it four times per day, but now I'm trying to do what I am told and take them all day long, every day this week to minimise chance of another infection. Ugh. I'm thinking I need to order some probiotic supplements this week to take when I finish all of these. I'm sure any friendly bacteria within five miles of me has made a run for it.  :-\\\\

That sounds really annoying squirrellypoo.  Have you got any candles that might help with the lights aspect at least?

Oh, we're not in the stone age - we've got 240v electricity from the mains, it's just we don't own many 240v lights because it costs way more to run 240v stuff than 24v (which is usually very close to being free because our solar panels power all that normally) and they take up way more room than the 24v lights that are wired in place. So we've got a few lamps, but they're just not enough for the amount of light we're used to. It'd take like 50+ candles to get anywhere near approaching what our 24v lights normally provide. And candles just aren't practical with a moving boat and a very clumsy long hair cat!

But thank you for the sympathy! I know mine is a niche annoyance but it's still annoying to me!

just a little one, but the nice wedding planner person at my reception left and the new one is a bit scatty. She was supposed to send me the contract through a month ago, I chased her a week ago, no response and then chased her today.
She then sent it through, it's still got the error in it and she was a bit snippy like "I'll be OOO tomorrow, please don't panic if I don't reply straight away".

I'm not a bridezilla here but I am paying you thousands of pounds and whilst I appreciate you're busy, I don't think it's insane to expect you to get back to me within nearly five weeks, especially when it's a contract for a payment.

I hate it when people imply that I'm being unreasonable. Five weeks with absolutely no reply to a simple contract amendment is unreasonable! Especially as I've been super polite in all my mails and only chased twice (once a week ago, once today).

You're definitely not being a bridezilla cheesebiscuit, but it sure sounds like she's not being very professional.

Bloodshot eye again. Dr. says it is allergic conjunctivitis, due to extreme dry conditions.  ???

Woke up about 3-4 am this morning, a little bit achy - but then, DH was whistling through his nose (in his sleep - lol!) right in my ear for what seemed an eternity (like a tea kettle whistling kind of sound)...until I wriggled around a bit & finally he turned over.  Took ages to get back to sleep by which time, it was time to get up!  When I told him, he said I should have put the pillow over his face.  :P

Welcoming back my stomach that refuses to digest anything properly. :(

I spent most of last night ill after dinner, went to bed super early to recover and awoke feeling like I've been hit by a truck. Am now sitting here seeing if breakfast is going to behave. Really not fancying the commute to work right now, nor my friend's birthday drinks this evening. Ugh.

Feeling really ill (snuffily and coughing) today, and I have to get my 3 bunnies to the vet on the train. And you may think that because they're bunnies it's no big deal, but 2 are Giant crosses, so at just under a year old they are larger than my MIL's yorkshire terriers. They are HEAVY. I'm not looking forward to this...
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

Oh no!  :-[ I hope you feel better again soon. I sometimes have Lemon and Ginger tea or Peppermint and Fennel tea. Have you tried that? It's a small thing, but I found it really does help settle my stomach a bit. Especially the Twinings Digestif blend.

It feels like someone has taken a toilet brush to my throat. I haven't slept for the last 2 nights because DD has been so restless in her sleep & her being ill. DH is at work and it's his last 2 weeks there so I can't really call him to come home so I can take a nap. But I'm like a walking zombie...and I need to go get groceries today...I just have zero energy. :\\\'(
