I have a job interview tomorrow...  THEY WANT A PRESENTATION!  WTF?!?

I have had my computer up all day and I've got nothing.  I know what I want to show, but I am not creative...

AAGGGHHHH.  I can present.  But my actual presentation is going to suck.  UGH.

Anyone have a template of an interview presentation they've done before?  First interview (phone) was yesterday and tomorrow is the presentation.  When you've got two kids, it doesn't feel like a lot of notice!

Basically needs to be a presentation about me and why they should hire me.  I've just jotted out what I want on paper which has helped.  I just feel like it's going to take HOURS to make the presentation look the way I want, you know?  And even then it'll likely suck!  I can talk until the cows come home but I'm not creative and I'd never want someone to judge me based on Power Point skills.   ::)

(Thinking outside the box.... sorry if this isn't helpful in a stressful moment)

Does it have to be Power Point or could it be old school print outs? If they're Power Point-esque, maybe they'd get the point of what you're capable of.

I really think it should be Power Point.  Luckily my husband's laptop is here or else I'd be at the library.   :o

I don't want this to sound snobby, but I always have an EA who does my PP presentations for me.  I sketch out what I want it to look like, she makes it look a MILLION times better with a bit of creative juices behind it.  We all know EA's are worth their weight in gold and then some!  It's been a long time since I've pulled a PP together from scratch.

Nan, I'm in finance.  Conversation killer right there.   ;)

Oh, crud. I won't be any help at all then! Sorry!

Finance people like charts and graphs, tho, right? Can you quantify some of your more recent achievements?

Me!

Sounds easy but it's not.

They want to know how I meet each of the requirements listed in the job description based on my current role (umm... two pages!  So hope I've picked the right ones)

Then why they should hire me

I just fee like the whole thing screams THE INTERVIEWER HAS NO IDEA HOW TO CONDUCT AN INTERVIEW.

I've got a first draft now.  Ugh.  I don't even want this job now!

Is it a start-up? Cuz that totally seems like a crap idea for someone at the senior management level with less than a day of notice! I'd freak out if that were ever an interview task for me.

Good luck!!

I had to do one for one of my interviews, it was  Brand Marketing job. I used their colours and one of the templates in PowerPoint. It wasn't anything terrible fancy, it was just about me and why I would be a good fit for the job. I used some photos and it was actually a semi fun one but stressful as I only had the one night to do it as well. I stayed up stupid late to do it and practice running through it as I was working full time at a different job.

I don't know how to do cool stuff in PowerPoint but they were impressed that I used the color palette and how I tied my life into their ethos. (They had some interesting things.)
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Too bad I am late to this party.  I hope by the time you read this the interview is over and everything went fine.
Asking you to do a presentation is ridiculous and should raise medium level red flags about competence and expectations.  It's either "I can't think of any good interview questions....". Or "Let's see if this person will drop everything and work all night on our whim for no real reward other than the chance of getting a job. ". Neither one is a good indicator of what to expect once hired.

As a computer contractor, I am frequently asked to do ridiculous things like that as part of an interview.  Usually it's a presentation about how I would solve their biggest problem.  Why would you buy the cow when you can have the milk for free?  I  blatantly put in minimum effort for things like that.  It will either be good enough, or they have found an idiot willing to work for free and he is obviously the best fit for that role as I don't work for free.  Something else will come along.

It’s not until 3:30 this afternoon.  I’ll let you know.  I’ve got an interview for another job in the morning that I really want.

The presentation is complete.  I finally just gave myself permission to half ass it.  I’m hoping to drive the interview to work for me!  Ha!

This is from a direct submission of my CV.  I’m realising how nice it is to have a recruiter to give you a few tidbits of info before going in.
