Always park at Westfields if you can when going into London. It's fairly cheap for all day parking and the tube stop is right there. We do that every time we're going to a gig in London where we might be out too late to get a train back.

Hmm...  Interesting....

We definitely are in London next weekend.  I wonder if this would be better or worse than the train for us.  As getting to Westfields can be a pain.

Margo - definitely make some calls.  There's a good chance it ended up on the floor and someone found the ring!

Not sure if it depends on the time of day you're going, but we almost always drive in now and it's only an hour max to get there (it's usually around 45-50 mins unless there's traffic/an accident on the motorway). Last time we went, it was two weekends ago on a Saturday and we've gone on week nights as well. Can't remember what it's like if we've left earlier in the day, but traffic isn't bad at all when we leave in the afternoons. Might just depend on where you're going in London? For us, we like that we don't have to worry about getting back to Waterloo/Paddington for the last trains out if we know it's going to be a late night but if you aren't going to be there too late, it might be more of a hindrance depending on where you need to be in London. Doesn't hurt to give it a go! Just make sure it's the Westfields near Shepherd's Bush!!! There's another one in a different part of London and I can't speak for how close to a tube stop it is and what the price of parking is (the tube stop at the one we park at is literally right there just outside). It's typically £8 or £9 for all day parking but I believe if you do the smart parking online, it's only £6!

We have a known parking space (free) near Gunnersbury Tube right off the M4 in Chiswick.  We'll probably just park there again.  Haven't been into London forever (been a year when we registered the baby's birth last year).  And it looks like I might be going two weekends in a row!

Yeah, we've called the venue and the event promoter & friends have all made posts asking for its return if it turns up. Might get lucky but I'm not holding my breath!

Shopping in the US is a good call. Its not like the border will be looking to have you declare a wedding band! I just hope I get an answer on the job I interviewed for soon because I don't want to plan a trip and then have to cancel it for a job. They booked more interviews after mine through their internal recruiting, but they have said the candidates would have to blow me out of the water to be hired. So, at least I nailed the interview after feeling so down on myself.

I also found a website called Park & Ride London, but it's always hard to know if it's a decent neighborhood etc. Definitely don't want to go driving and parking in Vauxhall!

fingers crossed it turns up!

yeah customs won't have a clue (especially if he's wearing the ring and the empty box is in his bag. They'll have no way to know really if it's just been purchased or not).

Almost all work places will honour your current annual leave when you start. It's actually, in my opinion, better to have your annual leave booked off before starting a new job because then it's pretty much a guaranteed acceptable time off :p They can't tell you last minute you have to cancel once you start.

We're heading to the US next and my hubby was applying for his ESTA whilst I was cooking dinner.  He didn't realise that he clicked through one of those stupid 3rd party processing sites instead of the official site (amazing what google hits can do to throw you off) and he pays. He calls to me, "$88 for an ESTA!, that's expensive!  I don't remember paying that much before!"  Yikes, I was like, "No they're like $14" -
So easy to get caught out, especially when these sites look so official.  Luckily, he contacted them and cancelled his application and they're actually not charging him.  Phew. He's applied on the official cbp page. Watch out folks!!!

What a racket! It should be illegal to masquerade as an official site like this!

Look what they've got here in Italy

Screens for the windows!  Hello UK, get with the program.

Unfortunately, they are not so good with toilet seats.  I was in a fancy restaurant and the bathroom was like a dang truck stop.  My personal philosophy is that I am no longer responsible for mess if there is no seat.  I just aim in the general direction and ignore any collateral damage.  How much does a seat cost? €20?

We had screens on every window in Croatia too.  Seriously, it must just be the UK that likes bugs....
